Mustang Sally was first made famous by Wilson Pickett in 1966.
However, it was originally written & recorded by Mack Rice in 1965.

âReal song, but fake bandâ. Much like Spinal Tap
No different to The Archies. I didnât realise The Commitments were manufactured in this sense. This âMustang Sallyâ cover was one of the biggest hits of the early 90s and one of the songs I most remember from Rage as a youngster.
Andrew Strong who sings main vocals in this song has a great voice.Great soul singer
He released a song âthereâs nothing you can doâ in the early 90âs. Its worth a google & once again is a strong vocal
After crediting Rebel for playing Dire Straitsâ Telegraph Road, only fair I acknowledge that 4MMM Brisbane played the same track just after 9:30 this morning. Sadly I only caught the last few minutes, but that pure, unadulterated guitar rock was still very enjoyable (again) - I doffs me cap to them
Superstar by Murray Head on 4KQ this morning
âAny Way You Want Itâ- JOURNEY
Sky Sports Radio. Not played in full as it was filler before a race call, but still astounding. I have never before heard this on any Australian station.
(PS- I was going to post this in the âDid They Really Just Play Thatâ thread but I canât seem to find it. Was it nuked? A pity, as I felt it did have a place here).
Itâs still there ⌠also under âGeneral Radio and DigitalââŚ
Yes I see it now- couldnât see it under âall topicsâ for some reason.
Looks like this song has been added to 2UEâs playlist:
Canât listen to it without hearing âWhatâs all that about?â or âCool for cats, Bridgestone catsâ.
Had to YouTube that Bridgestone adâŚbefore my time (well, I was born in the year that it aired).
âCool For Catsâ is on one of my playlists for my future show on Braidwood FM. It is preceded by Captain Sensibleâs âWotâ and followed by âThe Lion Sleeps Tonightâ by The Tokens. Yep, it wonât be your average safe listening experience.
Yes, I know itâs a community station, and it was on late at night - after midnight, in fact - but I just had to add this:
THE ALLUSIONS - The Dancer
On CoastFM 96.3 Gosford, during Classic Hits Overnight.
What an awesome Aussie track from the 60s! Iâve had it stuck in my head all day today. Whoever programs the music for CoastFM does a damn good job.
Yeah- that is a top pop tune out of the 60s. Right up there with âNeedle In A Haystackâ.
Doctor! Doctor! - Thompson Twins
Just played on Gold 80s. Love this song!
Fantastic song. I love the first few notes of the intro especially.
Thanks to the guy who requested these underplayed tunes this afternoon as part of Gold 104.3âs âTotally 80s Triple Playâ!
Endless Road - Time Bandits
Hold On - Models
Bitter Desire - Kids In The Kitchen
Yes, they were played consecutively!
Great songs. There will never be another 80s. We just took for granted an endless supply of great new songs coming out every month.
The 80s should have lasted for longer than a decade. It was a big mistake to let it end in 1990.
