End couple of segments from after Easter:
I believe it only lasted one year before being renamed and a new host.
Yes it started in 1990 with Graham Kennedy before being renamed to Australias Funniest Home Video Show with Jacki McDonald, then Lisa Patrick. It wasnt until the 99 Reasons singer, Jo-Beth Taylor arrived that it had a stable host.
As a side note, the song referenced peaked at 31 on the ARIA charts with the album of the same name peaking at 109.
Aren’t we lucky she came to keep the hosts chair warm between 1993 and late 1997
Lucky?
That’s subjective.
Well we could have ended up with Tim Ferguson on it instead.
If Kerry didn’t crack the shits, could’ve had Doug Mulray as the host of FHVS full time. Now that would’ve been Passion Pop comedy. ![]()
It always amused me that the weekly prize was a JVC Camcorder, given those who had submitted entries already had one!
It might have been an upgrade on what they had.
I remember Graham making some references to the prize during some episodes.. he would say things like “People are always asking why do we give away camcorders to people who already have one?”.
But he never gave a serious answer, he would just make jokes about it.
As was his style at the time. ![]()
Graham always loved taking the piss out of the sponsors. It worked too.
