Gold Network

No worries. In the same block of ads this morning there was one for an Adelaide funeral home with “X number of locations across Adelaide” :). Then a national ad and then a local Brisbane one..

Gold Brisbane website seems to be nearly polished and done finally.
Still missing a live player.
Gold Adelaide the exact same.

Or run a tactic called “Cash COCk”.

“Brisbane’s #1 Hit Music Station” vibes with that positioning.

I have sampled quite a bit of Gold Brisbane and I’m more convinced than ever that it would be a very easy No. 1 if it was on FM in Brisbane. Gold 97.3 would be rating 17% easily in Brisbane even with zero local content. It’s a bit too chatty at times and a bit safe in the music for my personal taste, but nevertheless it plugs a huge gap on the FM dial in Brisbane (and Adelaide). I would also say that it’s a much better listen than River 94.9 which can be a bit all over the place with the music.

I think that’s what endears it to me. It’s safe. I have other sources for my “eclectic” listening such as our very own Billy bob @dxnerd and sunshine fm sunny coast, rebel & breeze, abc jazz etc, that when my background listening is on I like middle of the road and safe.

Maybe that’s just me though.

Yeah on the whole it needs to be relatively safe, as long as they don’t overflog certain songs it’s fine for mainstream FM. I haven’t heard anything that’s a turn off but still I think they could drop in a few surprises, which I believe they do on weekends and overnight. I’ve mainly sampled during the day.

It’s possibly a bit less adventurous than Smooth (especially what Smooth used to be like).

Just had yet another chunk of dead air on the Brisbane feed - seems to happen a lot. After 15 sec or so more ads started up. Other times music starts.

I have noticed this a couple of times on KIIS Perth DAB too

It looks like ARN wants Gold DAB+ in Adelaide to fail. Nothing about Gold DAB+ on Cruise 1323 on air and nothing about Gold DAB+ on Cruise 1323 website either

Gold Brisbane currently just dead air after the 7am news, with the odd GOLD station ID playing every few mins in between the dead air.

Edit: the music came back at 7:23 am brisbane time.

People will eventually find it and I’m sure it will do well, better than CADA did anyway. I’d be surprised if it doesn’t have an audience of at least 20k by the end of the year.

Ditto Brisbane, although I’m guessing Gold in Brisbane will pull in north of 50k listeners by the end of the year and vie with Smooth for the number 1 DAB station.

Agree, but only if they decide to tell people about it at some stage :joy:. So far it’s radio silence - and I’m not just talking about all the dead air on Gold Brisbane lol

Just have to say it once more.

Can ARN please change the URL thegoldwebsite.com.au? Surely this is only a temporary thing.

If SCA Digital can have hit.com.au automatically go to wherever you are/whichever you select, then surely ARN Digital can do the same.

It’s as if ARN have no idea how to make a purely national digital brand. Even kiis.com.au isn’t properly set up.

Also, why does www.thegoldwebsite.com.au list GOLD PERTH and GOLD96FM PERTH? Shouldn’t the first one be GOLD80s PERTH?

Agree!! thegoldwebsite is an abomination

I just don’t understand why they need to point out the Gold DAB station in Perth, when they don’t highlight it in Sydney or Melbourne, where they also have Gold on FM.

On that, I find myself really getting annoyed at the FM on the end of Gold96FM. I understand it’s most likely going to be a transition period, but I hope it will change to just Gold96 or Gold96.1 sooner rather than later.

Though that screenshot has a “Just Great Hits” rather than “Just Great Songs” positioner. I wonder if that’s intended to position the station younger than Triple M or just a typo.

So far I got a “This is a radio station called Gold” as a sweeper, which is certainly a brave and powerful stance to take. The music seems like what the other east coast Golds play.

Edit: Yeah, says “songs” on air - so just more website disorganisation than anything.
