Yep, Radio 10 were the same. They had a great news team back in the day too.

PAMS jingles were good and very diverse in lyrics, music and use by the stations but today it’s just marketing name “shouts” at the end of ad breaks to get back into music.

Some of the Australian made jingles were also awesome. I liked PAMS but the American accents were a little annoying.

Please tell me that’s Gold104.3 as well?

It’d be nice for Melbourne to have to “put up” with a Sydney announcer in the afternoon the same way Sydney has to deal with Melbourne announcers every other day on 101.7FM.

Steve Fitton normally does drive for both SYD and MEL since the line up was changed and he’s Sydney based.

Its for both Gold Syd and Melb stations

What’s their on air branding like? Dedicated voice breaks for each market? Or simply referring to as Gold? Or a hybrid of both - similar to KIIS Workdays?

Try 101.1 in Melbourne, a direct relay of KIIS Sydney. Get over it.

That’s a bit rude, isn’t it?

Gold Sydney & Melbourne have a new studio number 13 55 22. No more 13 WSFM for Sydney.

I’m surprised it’s not 134653 13GOLD (that looks to be available as it didn’t connect when i rang it)

I had a workman (Greg) out here during the week, doing a few renovations and he had his radio set to River 94.9 while he was working. The locals seem to love it out here (in the Fassifern Valley)… I presume they like it because it’s live and local… would a generic GOLD 94.9 with Toni Tenaglia and Steve Fitton be just as popular?

No. Most definitely not.

Out here there is a strong belief in locals supporting locals. We shop local. We are local. We support local business. River 949 taps into that sentiment exceptionally well. While Greg was here he had to pop out and buy materials. He went to the local Mitre 10. Sure it was more expensive than Bunnings, but the local Mitre 10 supports the local community, local events and sporting clubs and the rodeo and local show and is a sponsor at local schools and meanwhile River 949 was playing ads for this same local Mitre 10…

Would Greg still listen to a generic GOLD 94.9? Would Our local Mitre 10 still advertise with them?

Well said.

River 949 does personality radio really well. Sure it may seem really boring to metro listeners who want celebrity gossip and entertainment with the stars and AFL stars and NRL stars and glitzy nightclubs and music celebrities, but Marnie and Campo just talk about going to their kids local footy on the weekend and shopping at Mitre 10.

As Sir Frank Moore, owner of 4IP once said:

It’s good to be able to help your community when you’re living with that
community and serving it as a broadcaster. If you’re living in a board room with
a bunch of bankers you can’t even feel what’s going on out there.

Good luck Kiis RDS doesnt even work.

(1) 4kq Classic Hits DAB+

or

(2) Gold DAB+

Probably Gold is more the gap in the market these days. 4BH covers the classic hits pretty well.

4Kq is dead, buried, cremated and Hutchy pissed on the ashes.

of the options i’ll take Gold, but in my option river should be on DAB+. this can be done without removing the local aspect of the station. its more about giving listers who live in the west but work in the city or even further afield the opportunity to keep listening during their commute, because what will happen is they will switch to b105 (or whatever) in the car, and inevitably the radios at home will make the switch too
