would they also rebrand the station inline with the gold network? would this be the time to do it with a new breakfast show launching?

I wouldn’t worry - they don’t have the infrastructure to network into regional stations yet.
Laurel (and Troy) wouldn’t leave Brisbane. She’s a quintessential Brisbane girl. Lives in the next suburb to me, and her mum’s near there too.

I don’t know the SRN setup but with SCAsat the ease of ability to use GSelector and internal programs to easily assign channels to certain shows and stations - for example (and I don’t know if this still happens), Bona was Scasat 1 on Metro and 4 (from memory, also called Sports) for Regional.
I usually only dealt with 2 macros that fired off feeds - SCASAT SPORTS TO AIR which took Sydney and MMM TO AIR which brought us back from network to local.
I assume SRN rents satellite space, which may limit their ability to access it easily and quickly if there’s an issue? Just speculation there on my part.

I imagine they already do for distribution of pre-recorded stuff like JAMnation and voice tracks for regional shifts, but having the ability to deliver live programming (outside of K&J into Melbourne) via Sat with automation for ads like MarkHD alluded to would give them another option.
They definitely could. SCAsat is essentially a combination of several systems talking to each other, some of which will already be in some ARN stations. Telos Alliance (who own/market Axia products amongst others) did a lot of the integration and were actually shopping the product around at industry events shortly after launch.
The two main features which make SCAsat stand out from other solutions are the easy scheduling which @RabbitEars mentioned, but also the redundancy of being able to receive the network feed via 2 different paths (eg. satellite or landline IP) seemlessly. The redundancy is an existing feature of the equipment used, so can be setup by anyone. The scheduling was a custom solution for SCA to integrate anything - I don’t know who owns the IP to use it, but at the very least a similar, if not identical, solution could be implemented for ARN. Matt Steadman was an engineer at SCA at the time and was a key part of the implementation could even be available - since leaving Nova 2 years ago he’s been privately consulting so could easily be engaged by ARN to manage the project.

So, Gold is moving into Adelaide then based off this.
So breakfast will probably be eventually networked from Melbourne - and then daytimes voicetracked from either Sydney or Melbourne eventually. Oily rags incoming. Thank you K&J

Ok ok… Why are the industry websites so blind???
It is 10000% obvious what is happening.
- No local CDs, with content direction coming from Melbourne.
- 1x MD for the entire network, meaning the music is about to be the same across all metro markets.
- Gold104.3
- Gold101.7
- Gold1323 (or even if they keep it as Cruise1323), hence the delayed rebrand/logo change for Cruise.
- Gold101.7 Mornings announcer “resigns” - clearly to make away for networked Mornings shift (next will be the Gold101.7 Afternoons announcer “resigning” or moving to a new role.
- Cruise1323 breakfast announcer “leaving the station, but not radio altogether”.

It’s going to be Gold. With Christian O’Connell for Breakfast and Just Great Songs all day. Similar to smooth, if you listen to Gold in Syd, Melb or Ade, you’ll hear the same VT announcer localising talk breaks.
It’s all to save $$$ by shifting the Gold Network to what smooth is doing right now.
As if RadioInfo truly believe J&A will be syndicated to Adelaide… 2x announcers cost more than one. So it’s clear that Christian will be the winner here - and as speculated, J&A will be out of 101.7 in 2026.
Can somebody official just announce it already?
