The 2030 Commonwealth Games are set to be held in Ahmedabad, India in 2030, pending formal approval next month. The city is also bidding for the 2036 Summer Olympics.

It will then travel to the Great Barrier Reef off the coast of Cairns, with 2024 world 50m backstroke champion Isaac Cooper to join Birmingham 2022 womenâs 1500m bronze medallist Abbey Caldwell among the diverse coral and sea life.

Alexa Leary ruled out of Commonwealth Games after reclassification
The darling of Australiaâs para swim team, Alexa Leary has been ruled out of this yearâs Commonwealth Games in Scotland after global administrators changed the classification she competes in.
A victim of her own success, the world-record breaking Queenslander was set on making her Commonwealth Games debut at Glasgow in July before being told her eligibility had been modified.
An unstoppable force in the S9 class, Leary was reassessed by global para and swimming experts in February, who effectively deemed she was too good so they moved her to S10, a faster class of swimmers with lesser impairments.
Based on her times in the pool, the bubbly Leary will still be among the worldâs best in her new category but will have to sit out the Commonwealth Games because there is no freestyle sprint race for S10 women.

Why 12 years later? Melbourne hosted the Commonwealth Games 6 years after the Sydney Olympics
2038 is six years after Brisbane 2032 isnât it? I agree 2034 is too soon for a Commonwealth Games in Australia.
I think Adelaide will be in a better position to host the Games in 2034. In 2023 the South Australian Government ruled out a bid to host the 2026 edition due to financial concerns.
Itâll also be 20 years since the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. It took 24 years from Brisbane 1982 to Melbourne 2006 to host the event so a 20 year wait will be similar to Perth 1962 to Brisbane 1982
New Zealand are looking at 2034
I think it is likely Canada would host in 2034 and Nigeria in 2038, then New Zealand in 2042
