Gladiators

The capes and wings are only used in the promos to make them look like superheroes. Not used in the competition.

There are two articles in The Sunday Telegraph today on Gladiators: a short interview with Sandor Earl as Phoenix, and the main article with new referee Mark McGraw (Hammer in the 1990s version).

I wonder what’s going on. Thats two date changes now.

Maybe they want all their regular News and Project presenters back on board before they launch Deal and Gladiators?

Maybe Beau’s schedule to promote it?

Also the UK series is due to launch around that time as they had their press launch over the weekend and teasers have started dropping…

TV Blackbox understands that the network decided to again delay the premiere date due to audience research which suggested the later start would resonate with more viewers and enable them to find the rebooted version of the classic series – many for the first time.

But now it runs headlong into the Aus Open. It had more of a chance earlier in January.

So much for the 50 week all new schedule. It’s now down to 49 weeks.

I’m annoyed. Some people aren’t on holidays in January and look forward to coming home from work to watch television. There are some who don’t like cricket or tennis and look to 10’s offerings. Jan 15 is quite a long wait for those who are looking for free entertainment.

Was it originally meant to launch on the first week of January? Then pushed back to the 9th, and now the 15th?

Yup.

Was originally 7th then 8th now 15th.

There was an ad during 10Peach’es airing of Neighbours advertising a 15th of January start. I was like “hmmm, that doesn’t seem right”. Then reading the article and the comments here, prove that it is in fact starting then. I wonder why the schedule change (for a third time)…?

How long is Gladiators running for? Three, four weeks? 10 being hopeful that it will be successful and the final week air during the first week of the official ratings week?

So many hysterical stalker fans of Gladiators. :joy: I’m sure you’ll all survive having to wait one extra week.

Not hysterical, worth noting and discussing motivations if they change the premiere date twice after going early as they have done in previous years.

Another point, wonder what this means for Survivor which goes after Gladiators? It usually launches at the same time as MAFS, so they wouldn’t want to give viewers too much of a head start with Married.

It is worth noting that both the US and UK versions went a somewhat showier (and I’d say darker?) feel to them last time they tried rebooting in 2008 - not to mention “wet” because water to fall into probably looked better than padding - whereas we sorta kept a feel a bit closer to the original version (and yet… not really).

This is very much following the lines of the next UK reboot given the logo (right down to calling the players “contenders” when in the Australian versions we had called them “challengers”) so the styling will certainly be a bit different to what we’ve seen here. It might be a bit “love or hate” and I guess I’ll find out which one it is for me next month.
