After Seven’s antics with the 9 News sponsored WAFL team, what crazy things would a host broadcaster do nowadays to avoid such a situation?
I recall some pre-aggregation car sponsorship as well.
The danger with the sponsorship of cars is the when the car breaks down or crashes out. Not a good look having your logo towed off the track.
That 9 car failed spectacularly in 1982:
A “famous” Seven sponsored car crash
There’s a Lego model touring around Bathurst of Mount Panorama, and it features this scene with the 9 logo in Lego form. It’s worth a look!
Graham Kennedy died on this day, 25 May, in 2005.
A flashback to 1961 and it seems that IMT was going through a bit of a ratings slump, so GTV9 made changes to the presenting line-up – which of course made double-page news in TV Week.
In the change Kennedy went from hosting Wednesday and Thursday nights, to Tuesday and Wednesday nights.
Kennedy also retained Friday night’s IMT which was in the slightly later slot of 10.30pm.

Am I the only one to find those disembodied heads disconcerting?
This XC hardtop crashed in the esses during the 1979 Hardie Ferodo 1000. Another Johnson ‘rebuild’. From the TV footage of the crash its possible to see that chunks 0 logo but not read the ‘Eyewitness news’ to the left of it on the headlight covers.
Does anyone know who this newsreader is from around a decade ago?
Michelle Fonseca, maybe?
What’s wrong with disembodied heads?
Michele Fonseca.
Nothing wrong with a few floating heads
I think it’d be fine
WCBS 2 News New York 1993 - great news set imo:
By the way, can you believe the closer (with the close-ups)?
Some classic WIN TV idents from the past in anticipation of WIN’s arrival to northern NSW later tonight. If they insist on maintaining their own identity, they really should consider introducing some idents with a local flavour to their regional markets.
Also discovered this video of WIN’s 6 O’clock News from the mid 1980s:
GMV6 used to have the same graphic/opening title except that the “6” logo was in place of the numeric 6.
Just found on YouTube, an episode of the Nine Network sitcom/drama The Godfathers from 1972, featuring a guest appearance by Maggie Kirkpatrick who a decade later would become famous as “The Freak” Ferguson in Prisoner.

Bored watching the footy tonight and stumbled upon this report on Youtube of conditions for the press in 1984 at Princes Park Carlton. A bit different from BT’s gushing praise of the new facilities at Geelong.
