Well, even earlier, Channel 4 (UK) used a series of stings in 1992-93 featuring people pressing or tapping the screen…

Who here remembers the Channel Seven music show AMV (All Music Video)? It would air weekday mornings between 7:30am-9:00am, following Sunrise (which was then either 30 or 90 minutes long).
It was axed either towards the end of 2001 or at the start of 2002 when Sunrise expanded to a three-hour format.
Also, does anyone remember The ARIA Music Show, which aired from 12am-7am during GO!'s soft launch (August 9-October 4, 2009)?
I believe it was a no-host countdown show for ARIA’s Top 50 (like Rage’s top 50 block which was axed prior), and a similar hour-long block aired on Nine during this point.
The G rating restriction for that timeslot meant that it was very, very limited as to what music videos it could actually show (often it would show the same videos daily, just in a slightly different order).
Yeah that’s true. Its major opposition were the Today show on Nine and Cheez TV on Ten.
Unfortunately I don’t think there is any footage of the show (or parts thereof) on YouTube.
Cheez TV was the show that killed off Agro’s Cartoon Connection.
That lasted all of 5 weeks from memory
Yes, the failed attempt at bringing in a Friday night replacement for Burke’s Backyard that skewed younger. Probably one of Nine’s worst decisions that year (although in hindsight it is now very obvious as to why they were trying to get rid of Don Burke).
Also they had a live audience. Which made no sense at all. (still think The Living Room having one is dumb)
Replacement of don burke ahow with other programs was the worst decision that nine made in 2005, though Fridays rated higher than 7.
I feel that in 2006, all star bert family feud came and this saw a couple of shows on nine. Sadly it flopped
It didn’t help that the premiere episode had to be pushed back by a week due to rolling coverage of the Pope John Paul II funeral.
Still, the fact that Our Place only lasted three weeks on the air while Better Homes & Gardens is continuing to roll along nicely for Seven/7TWO on Friday nights probably says something.
While the axing of Burke’s Backyard was probably seen to be a bad programming decision back in 2004, Nine made the right decision to axe it. Especially knowing what we now know about Don Burke, but also because it was perhaps the only reason that Friday Night NRL coverage aired on a hour delay.
Had Don Burke not been such a terrible person away from public view, he’d probably still be on the air/in print today.
I would have thought that the motorway patrol aired on 7:30pm Friday nights and this saw nine finish 2nd or 3rd in timeslot
Felt like it was on an hour loop of the same songs (Lily Allen’s 22 and Jordin Sparks’ Battlefield were on high rotation in the early days).
That’s channel 10 if I recall
Is that a young Eddy Meyer?
Yep, all the Ten News sets (at least on the East Coast) had that bright blue look around the mid-1990s.
It certainly looks a lot like him, obviously sporting a better pair of glasses and less/greyed hair these days!
