This might be one of the oldest Christmas tapes from Australian TV. The Daily Mirror ad is pretty interesting. Those views would have been very liberal for the time. I love the appearance of the lady who says ‘alcohol’s legal, so why shouldn’t pot be?’ - it’s just such a stark contrast between her conservative appearance and what she’s saying.
And Julius Sumner Miller being a total creep with the schoolkids, making a ‘rectum’ joke with a girl during a bit about parabolas (yes I know it’s relevant but to drag on it is a bit much…). That would never fly today!

Points of interest: end of the late news, a very familar news theme. Mention of the fact that Wormald is protecting the premises until they reopen tomorrow. What is it with Queensland TV stations and mentioning on air that they’re being protected by a security service? Also, as it was the poster’s last night with the station, there is a surprise after the national anthem.
Points of interest: Ad combined with clock, the first MVQ 6 palm tree logo, another mention of Wormald. The national anthem seems very laid back, almost Michael McDonald-esque.
what channel was ECV assigned to?
ECV would have been a production company rather than a TV broadcast station. Enterprise Colorvideo (note spelling

The “American” spellings never get my vote! Even “program” looks wrong, unless referring to computers.
Even though Neighbours adopted the correct spelling it was still listed in guides (such as TV Week and The Age) as Neighbors before they eventually followed suit to the correct spelling
Really? What does it matter. And “programme” looks really old fashioned. Unless you’re British.
Program is not an American spelling. It is the original spelling used for the word in England and endorsed by the original Oxford Dictionary. Programme as a spelling was first seen 200 years after program first appeared as a word and is usually said to have been an example of frenchification of English. Program is the standard spelling adopted in Australia by the Australian Government Style Guide for all uses of the word.
The difference I was taught is that programme is a schedule, whereas program is a computer file or TV show.
