ABC Radio Perth’s Clint Wheeldon mentioned the incident before the start of the second quarter of the AFL match between Fremantle and Gold Coast. He said that a local reporter is outside the shopping centre, and would report live at half time to listeners in South Australia.

There will be an update from authorities at 5:30pm Adelaide time. Will be covered by ABC.
I presume 7 Adelaide are focusing on local coverage (since they have 5pm news), and would be preparing for that.

Correct, STAR stands for Special Tactics And Rescue from memory but I could be mistaken.
9 broke into their programming for a special bulletin, 7 just did a cross in their regular 17:00 bulletin.
