2PM and still no break for ABC News

Have just wrapped up coverage for now.
Now that the details have emerged, no one was injured and the president was never really at any risk. Surely the coverage can settle down and focus on the real trump news of the day; the failed peace talks, that will have an actual impact on everyone’s lives.

The arrival itself was not seen live on Australian networks due to it occurring shortly before 5am, although Nine did feature live look-ins of the feed later.
you say that as if you were expecting it to?

I was watching Franceinfo and they indicated the arrival would be after 9pm CET (8pm UK / 5am AEST), so yes, I was expecting it.
This isn’t a story that warrants an early start on the morning shows, so it’d have been shown live only if it happened after 5am.
correct
It’s barely a story (their arrival) that warrants coverage on morning shows. Plane lands, people depart.

Interesting yet inaccurate report from Mediaweek.
According to Mediaweek
The incident occurred at around 10:35am AEST. Here’s what the networks were airing:
Seven – The Morning Show: Weekend
Nine – Wide World of Sports
Ten – MasterChef AustraliaBoth Sky News Australia and ABC News moved quickly, with Sky News Australia interrupting a live broadcast of The Outsiders to stay on the story.
For not one commercial network to break, or even dip, into coverage (or at the very least an announcement) of an assassination attempt on a sitting US President, against the backdrop of a global conflict with profound implications for both the world and Australia, is perplexing.
