Perhaps it’s just the reports on ABC News Channel. For the 7pm bulletins on the main channel, the ABC uses footage from Nine with top-left super “Courtesy of Nine” in all capitals.
Last night’s in Sydney with Jeremy Fernandez they did not.
The Olympics hasn’t been a very big sports story so far. On tonight’s ABC, Seven and 10 Brisbane bulletins it was the last story in the sports report and fiarly breif.

Wait until we win a medal, then it’ll be at the top.
I suspect it’ll pick up from tomorrow after tonight’s Aussie action, peaking with Scotty James later in the week in the half-pipe.
Another disruptor though is Seven and the AFL’s much hyped return to State of Origin (those markets at least) this Saturday night, no idea how that’ll be received, a big question mark on how it’ll rate. But there’s not a whole lot in the sports news cycle at the moment, AFL and NRL pre seasons aside, outside Milano Cortina and Super Bowl and now that the cricket and tennis have essentially finished their domestic summer and also briefly Elvis Smylie’s LIV golf the other day. Next will be the Australian F1 Grand Prix.

ABC will have extended coverage of the Liberal Leadership spill from 8:30am tomorrow on ABC TV and the News Channel - David Speers and Patricia Karvelas will be hosting from Canberra.
Note that Friday is the leadership vote. That explains the decision.

Well, my initial thought was the spill was a Wednesday night story, so it seems random that they didn’t have a special today but one for the day after.
A vote was called for this morning and that would be the reason to schedule the special.
There was no spill on Wednesday - all that happened is Angus Taylor left the front bench.
A person leaving the front bench does not mean a spill. There has to be a vote for there to be a spill, which will take place tomorrow.
