Thank god I got my Switch 2 when I did.
Friggin AI.
Yeah me too but Iâm sure a lot of people were holding off on buying a Switch 2 hoping for a price drop. Instead it looks like the opposite could be happening.
These price rises wonât go down well and will definitely impact sales. The Switch 2 itself is already expensive and some of the game prices are even higher. A few of the Nintendo exclusives are around $30 more than equivalent Switch titles, which just makes it way too expensive for some people.
Yeah, the Switch 2 version of some games are expensive, and for what reason? Better graphics? Nintendo has some questions to answer.
I bought mine on release day, trading in my original Switch as well as a few games. Got a discount, though canât remember the final price I paid
I still have my old SwitchâŚI was going to trade it in but the trade in price was crap. Thinking of turning it into a clockâŚ
The argument is that games cost more to make now but that doesnât change the fact that titles released just before the Switch 2 launched were noticeably cheaper. I just think if the increase was a bit more subtle (like $10-$15) people wouldnât have made as big a deal of it and would buy more games.
On the topic of Switch 2⌠what are peopleâs thoughts so far? Iâve enjoyed mine, especially Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza but both were very early release games. Iâm playing Metroid Prime 4 at the moment and am enjoying it more than I expected from a lot of negative reviews.
That said, it feels like the console needs a couple more big firstâparty titles on the horizon to really reignite it. I havenât heard much that excites me in the coming months. There are constant rumours about new Zelda, 3D Mario and Smash Bros all being in development, which I think the Switch2 could really do with one of these staple games soon.
The DLC direction theyâre taking isnât winning me over either. It feels a bit like a cheap moneyâgrab instead of committing to full new games. The upcoming Mario Wonder update for example⌠Iâd rather they made a proper sequel than bolted on some multiplayer features that we have to pay for. I am almost expecting that at some point Mario Kart World will have additional content added on the open world side of things.
They donât make them, they just carry them on the app right?
Looks like it, yes.

Itâs great that itâs finally coming out but geez this is rough for you lot.
Disappointed thereâs no pre order merch for physical releases like we used to have, wouldâve loved to get a VC t-shirt.
