Foxtel

One would assume that Fox Sci Fi & Fox Sleuth will not be added into the general Entertainment Package for everyone, since it is only a channel rebrand of Syfy & 13th Street.

Is that correct?

Weren’t these owned and operated by NBCUniversal? But it seems now with this new licensing agreement Foxtel can curate their own channels with the content through the output deal. Seems weird those rights would be given up.

Does anyone know why they chose to convert the old 4K channel back to HD instead of getting rid of it completely?

Old Foxtel multiroom(?) cable from the mid-2000s from when my grandparents had an iQ2 with the Platmiun plan rather than an iQ4 with an ever-chaining “two-channel-pack” plan

It changes depending on what they want to watch. Sometimes it’s Drama and sometimes it’s Sports.

And yes, I agree that the “new” base pack (Foxtel Plus) is priced like “Get Started” rather than “Entertainment”, which would bother a lot of new customers!

Oh that makes sense, the hyphens were confusing me.

I thought that you were talking about Foxtel having some special plan that just gave them two channels as some kind of budget offering - I’ve heard Foxtel offering Seniors plans in the past which had a smaller subset of channels.

https://www.theaustralian.com.au/business/media/foxtel-fortified-by-16bn-debt-deal/news-story/771fb2ae419d0a7a69c4856b1cf3da3c

Foxtel has successfully locked in the refinancing of $US1.1bn ($1.6bn) of debt, including $US900m of new bank facilities from local and international banks and financiers including South Korea’s Hana Financial Group.

Foxtel’s total debt facilities of $US2.1 billion are unchanged after the refinancing, although debt is now understood to be on a tenure of more than three years, giving Foxtel more flexibility to execute its reset strategy.

Does that mean Stan and Amazon Prime will lose The Office USA and Parks and Rec ? 30 Rock is on Amazon Prime. The Office USA took ages to become available on streaming here it seemed until Stan got it.

Or does it mean that it stays as is and Foxtel gets it as well?

Most of those NBCU sitcoms aren’t available on On Demand on Foxtel, so there might be a difference between broadcast rights and streaming rights, Foxtel getting the former and Stan the latter?

I only just found out that the Style channel is closing at 4am this Tuesday.

was in December’s magazine. Something that’s got me concerned is that Investigation Discovery is going to 616, which is Discovery Science. I hope they are not ditching that channel for ID. And hopefully ID is in HD
