Foxtel

Wish Disney+ would bring the Simpsons always on channel (along with others) to Australia. They’ve taken a lot of the channel surfing content that I used to enjoy from Foxtel that I don’t really bother with when you have to pick a specific episode.

But if you have Disney+ then you can stream any episode any time.

I know exactly what you mean, with everyone going on demand it’s almost content overload when trying to decide what to watch.

If you know how, you can create your own.

Channel Ten also lost rights to #Simpsons due to CBS buying the network in 2017 too, I promise.

A little off topic, but which of the free to air networks own the rights to fox content or is that Foxtel?

Channel Seven owns the rights to Fox animation content for a while now besides getting a subscription for Disney Plus that’s why Foxtel got rid of animation shows on FOX8 during the end of 2022.

But that really isn’t the same. Having every episode on Disney+ sounds great in theory but the experience is completely different. On streaming you have to choose something… scroll, pick an episode, commit to watching it.

A 24/7 channel you flick it on, catch a random scene and suddenly you’re hooked. Especially with shows you’ve seen episode many times before, that random “oh this one!” moment just doesn’t happen on streaming. Streaming is great when you want to intentionally watch something. A channel is great when you didn’t know you wanted too or for that random moment.

I grew up watching Seinfeld on DVDs but I haven’t deliberately sat down to watch an episode in years. Recently I’ve gotten back into it with Foxtel’s 24/7 Seinfeld channel. I’ll land on it by accident or if I’m bored or it’s late at night will sometimes flick to it for a quick look and end up watching half an hour without planning to. I remember a similar SouthPark pop-up channel they did over Christmas a couple years ago. I hadn’t watched that show in years but got pulled in for the same reasons.

I think people are just never satisfied.

Disney + have started streaming channels but as of now it’s only in the US and I think there’s still only the Simpsons channel.

It’d be nice if streamers had shuffle buttons. So weird that it’s just not a thing really anywhere…

I know this sounds wired, but I’ve always thought Spotify even though it’s a music streaming platform probably has some of the best features. One thing I have always wanted is the ability to create Watchlists. Similar to how you can on YT.

Flicking around and see Paul Murray on a FoxSports program, on Fox8!

Good idea to program it between Highway Thru Hell and Outback Truckers!

That’s what I thought. I’m not a motorsport fan but I left it on in the background.

Looks like the return of beIN channels is related to the new deal between Foxtel and beIN for commercial premises.
