Foxtel

It’s one of the oldest pay TV channel brands in Australia so it’s no surprise they’ve held onto it like Arena and Classics. But I agree, it’s a shame they haven’t continued with the tradition of airing actual comedy programs and specials instead of just being a sitcom dumping ground. It’s a shell of its former self.

Not sure they could since that Fox Comedy is owned by Disney.

Agree, it’s now such a shell not sure the brand was worth retaining for what’s left.

Yeah, it’s kind of tainting what was a really iconic brand. Just looked at the guide and it’s bloody terrible. Back-to-back Two and a Half Men, Cheers, Friends, The King of Queens, etc. It’s what 111 Hits was.

It really was such a bizarre move at the time when they renamed the only months old FOX Hits to Comedy but didn’t change any of the content. They saved the legacy brand of Comedy, but at what cost.

Damn I’d forgotten about the old Comedy Channel. That purple colour scheme was iconic.

Same with TV1, Showcase and Movie One. There used to actually be some decently branded and well-rounded pay TV channels back in the day.

My IQ4 is still showing 1.19.1.26?

here’s how to force a software update on the IQ4:

  • First, turn on the IQ4
  • On the box itself (not your remote), press and hold the power button until you see it change from Blue to Red and then KEEP PRESSING it until it changes back to Blue.
  • Release your finger
  • Now press the power button three times quickly and it should turn Orange in colour.
  • Your screen will likely go blank.
  • The Download and Update will take at least 10 minutes.
  • You now just need to wait.

I have done it but its not turning orange?

My Foxtel was on, I turned it off and held the button in, it went red when off and then blue & its now stuck on blue with no image on screen…

You have to hold button in first while iq4 is on, don’t turn it off first!

It is tricky to get it right

Yeah I am pretty sure I did that man, sorry the way I wrote it sounds like I didn’t.

I have just gotten home now, turned my Foxtel on and it seems to be doing it now.

How longs it take?

Bit of an odd question, but figured someone may know.

Recorded the movie Mortal Kombat on Premiere HD the other day, classified MA.
Clicked the info button on the remote, and noticed that the recorded version is classified MA, however the streaming option is rated R.
Is it two different versions of the movie, because R can’t be broadcast?

Btw, noticed it wasn’t just Mortal Kombat, same situation with the movie Hunter Hunter

Oh weird, it looks like the MA version is listed as 1hr 55 minutes, but the “uncut” R version is 1 hr 45? I sincerely hope they haven’t mixed up the two versions and that the longer one was supposed to be the stream version, but they still put the correct metadata on it?

I’m thinking the reason the longer version is the recorded one is because of ads before and after the movie that you also get when you record, where as the stream is purely the run time of the movie.

But yeah, still intrigued to work it out, if there’s any particular eye raising scene in the stream version, might have to make a note and see if it’s in the recorded version.

Keep in mind the broadcast MA version will probably have PAL speedup (4% faster)

I believe everything on Foxtel has the PAL speedup (including all the On Demand content)

I had no idea this was a thing, thanks for sharing
