Foxtel Now

Presto was on it, slightly different I know, but gets their product to the Fetch users.

Yes, but Presto was not a direct competitor to Fetch. Foxtel Play is. Quite a few duplicate channels too (almost 20 at a rough count).

HD is great and 50fps. Easily the best HD streaming from any Australian broadcaster. Makes 9now look ordinary and Plus7/Tenplay/iview/SBS embarassing.

Well done Foxtel!

Are you able to post a pic or two to get a sense of what the picture quality is like please?

Screenshots dont always do justice but it looks 100% better then how Foxtel GO looks now lol

Thanks for that - the picture quality exceeds what I thought it would look like. Pleasantly surprised they’re streaming the HD channels instead of merely increasing the streaming bitrates available.

If this is an indication of what HD will be like across the other platforms where Play is available, it will be worth the wait

True. Yeah, it’s way better than anything i’ve ever seen on Foxtel Go or Play.

Few more

I agree.
I’d be interested in signing up for Foxtel Play if offered it on more devices. If it was on Apple TV I’d definitely go for it

I signed up for the trial. Saw nothing of interest and went to cancel. Took 10 attempts before the website worked to cancel.

Got a welcome email the next day with the same message repeated twice at the bottom of it.

Seems to be as imcompetent as Presto .

Apparantely Foxtel Play will be available on Apple TV on January 31.

If Foxtel Play is now in HD, why is Foxtel Go not in HD if they are using the same streams (presumably)?

Play is currently in HD only through Telstra TV. You would assume that once it rolls out on iOS/Android devices that Go will be available in HD

Unfortunately Presto corrected themselves. There will be no Foxtel Play app on Apple TV on Jan 31

Oh damn. That’s a pity!

###Let’s Talk About - Season 2

From Sunday February 19

Critically-acclaimed short-form Australian series Let’s Talk About will launch on Foxtel’s refreshed streaming service, Play along with Foxtel’s showcase channel – including new Season 2 episodes – available from Sunday February 19.

Matilda Brown (Am I Ok, How God Works) returns as creator and star of the charmingly cheeky Let’s Talk About Foxtel original series. After falling pregnant within weeks of knowing each other, Season 2 follows the next rollercoaster chapter in the lives of Claire (Brown) and Ben (Richard Davies – Offspring, Bed of Roses) when their daughter Lily is welcomed into the world.

Navigating parenthood while still getting to know each other results in situations you just can’t avoid, no matter how painful. Can Ben juggle it all before Claire concludes that her relationship with a loveable children’s clown is just a listless, sad joke?

Series regulars Bryan Brown (Red Dog, Australia) and Lisa Hensley (Brides of Christ, Dating the Enemy) return as Claire’s uncensored but well-meaning parents joined by Hollywood heavyweight Sam Neill (Hunt for the Wilderpeople, Jurassic Park), along with Damian Walshe-Howling (Underbelly, The Reef), Steve Le Marquand (Rake, Underbelly), Andrea Demetriades (Alex & Eve, The Principal), and Chloe Boreham (Wolf Creek 2) rounding out the stellar guest cast for Season 2.

Foxtel Executive Director of Television Brian Walsh said, “Foxtel is delighted to continue our valuable partnership with Matilda Brown and the team on the second season of Let’s Talk About. With an outstanding array of A-list Aussies working behind and in front of the camera, Let’s Talk About is another uniquely Australian drama from the Foxtel original series stable. The bite-size short-form episodes are perfect commuter entertainment or for binge watching back-to-back. This commission will be available on our newly refreshed streaming service, Foxtel Play, together with play outs on our showcase channel,” he said.

Season One’s 10x5 minute ‘snackable’ episodes were a smash-hit, quickly making their way to the top of Presto’s most-watched list. Due to the overwhelming success of Season 1, Foxtel extended Season 2 to 10x11 minute episodes made expressly for Foxtel Play with further broadcasts across the Foxtel platform.

Every episode of Let’s Talk About Season 1 and Season 2 will stream on Foxtel Play and on the Foxtel platform from February 19.

Let’s Talk About Seasons 1 and 2 were produced in association with Screen Australia, Screen NSW and New Town Films.

Note: Season 1 was on Presto

just herd a rumour that foxtel play will have a name change in April plus new logos ect

quote. “Big changes happening at Foxtel. They are completely rebranding and you’ll start to see changes around April. They are also relaunching Foxtel play under a new name and pushing it as a cheaper option.”

the quote makes it a bit confusing because as i understand it the only thing that is relaunching and rebranding is foxtel play

no last i heard the whole of foxtel was changing, including channel realignment etc
