The only reason The two GF’s are not done in 4k is because Foxtel are not the main rights holder. Foxtel is trying to promote Hubbl everywhere so I wouldn’t be surprised if they push for the games there not producing to at least be produced in 4k by the FTA broadcaster.
It could also be a restriction of the rights agreement with the AFL and 7.

I assumed that, or Foxtel holding off until they get clean feeds next year, but this is also affecting the NRL as well, so i dunno.
Last year for the NRL only Fox sports produced games were shown in 4k on Foxtel
I’m assuming the broadcast equipment Nine uses for the NRL is 4K capable?
If so, it’s a shame that technology is going to waste if no one can’t/won’t show in 4K.
If produced in 4K but downscaled to HD on Nine/Fox, that seems to me like it would make almost no improvement to the HD picture quality.
Unlike say early 2010s when some downscaled HD games were shown in SD, it still looked noticeably better than just when produced in SD only.

Well since last year every AFL game was shown in 4K on Foxtel, so I just assumed the NRL was the same situation.
Regardless, if Kayo is going to offer 4K like Foxtel then it should have the same amount of 4K sport as Foxtel.
Yes I figured that, that’s why I pointed out the nrl is different. Every game of nrl and afl on both platforms should be 4k!
Foxtel seems to have added the 4K channels to the TV guide. Really don’t know why they tried so hard to hide these channels.

Wonderful. I put together a guide each week for my parents of sports which interest them and it’s always been a bit of a guessing game as to which UHD channels anything would be on. Much simpler to just be able to scroll along the guide and be sure.

They’re up to five UHD sports channels now? Last I heard it was four.
Another thing Kayo could use. Pain in the butt to have to swap streams to watch back-to-back footy.

I think they added the 5th this time last year when there was 2 AFL games, an NRL game, F1 coverage and Netball at the same time. Very rare that all 5 are used at once though.

There seems to be a slight Font change in the Foxtel ‘Ultra HD’ and ‘Live’ logo tonight in the AFL match.

Fox Footy showing replays of the AFL Grand Final in 4K on 592 tomorrow at 6pm and 9:30pm and 7pm on Sunday.
591 has become an America’s Cup pop up channel until Wednesday with round the clock live coverage or replays of the Challenger Selection Series from Barcelona in 4K.

Rare opportunity to test out the 4K IP channels on FOXTEL today.
NRL and AFL on the satellite (UHD 1 &2 respectively) with F1 and Netball on UHD 4 & 5 (IPTV 4K channels). Nothing on UHD 3.

Interesting that the 4K feed for F1 misses the Sky interview split-screen vision that regular 506 has - just audio and full-screen track feed on 4K.
Assumed Kayo shit the bed and audio was out of sync or something.
