Fox Footy

Yeah, her omission raised alarm bells for me as well

There has to be more to her axing other than just cost cutting surely?

I can think of plenty of others at Fox that can be moved on.

TV Blackbox are suggesting it was partly due to ‘workplace culture issues’

Yeah the news corp papers will play it down the line of course. There’s way more to this

What would she do at Nine or 10?

Seven have the AFL and the Cricket rights. Unless she takes a presenter and news role at the former. I suspect she wants to work in live sport so Seven makes more sense.

But Nine has tennis and netball too.

Nat Edwards (AFL Media) will be on maternity leave for much of next year. If Neroli does sign with Seven, she could replace Nat as host of Saturday night AFL preview show The Kick.

Interesting that absolutely none of her colleagues at FOX have made any social media comment or offered any words of support.

could use her for the Olympics coverage as well?

I think she will go there in a heartbeat.

Hearing she will be part of the new Talking Footy program along with being part of the cricket and AFLW

They’ve probably been told not to make any public comments about it

Love it - from the very advocates of freedom of speech…News Corp

Would happen with any business.

Foxtel CEO Patrick Delany has defended the decision to dump Neroli, telling Mediaweek:

We have plenty of women on the network and from time to time people go.
People don’t have jobs for life.

Pretty week reason if you ask me.

…a top RA source told the Herald that Fox executives reassured officials that cuts were imminent across all departments, including the broadcaster’s “big three”, rugby league, AFL and cricket.

Dragons great and regular Fox face Mark Gasnier has already moved on, taking up a key strategic role with OzTag Australia, and the plethora of NRL and AFL mid-week shows could face significant trimming.

If the speculations are true, then Fox Footy shows such as AFL Tonight, Open Mike, On the Couch, Bob and AFL 360 could be on the firing line. Even match night preview shows will be affected. While I expect main callers Dwayne Russell, Anthony Hudson, Eddie McGuire, Adam Papalia and Brenton Speed will stay, the rest of the commentary team (mostly former AFL players) will be trimmed.

Under the Foxtel-Fox Sports contract with the AFL are they required to produce a certain number of programs?

They really should bin the sport specific channels and just run generic channels with the matches etc. They’re going broke with the way they’ve done these rights deals.

Well if they’re going to cut shows, it’ll become harder to justify having specific AFL & NRL channels (cricket has enough year-round content to sustain its own channel)
