Yeah I noticed it tonight too with bowling changes. Rogers is at the start of his run up and they were like do you think Sutherland will bowl this one, and as soon as Rogers appeared on screen, BJ corrected himself.
Aa viewers we expect commentators to give us the inside word because we’re not there at the ground. It’s their job to give us the full picture and tell us what is happening out there because we’re stuck at home in front of the box. If all they’re doing is just telling us what we can see with our eyes then what’s the point.
I seem to remember a few years ago when this all-started people were whinging about this then Foxtel actually put some effort in and the off tube calls were ok. I know it has been sold now but has Foxtel cut right back on how much money they spend on doing these calls. I seem to remember at one point they had a purpose built studio or booth type thing for this?
Even more given Fox are a paid service. If 7 did it then it’s understandable (not acceptable but understandable). Fox are a paid service so they should provide the same if not better than the FTA option but they are providing something that’s worse.
I don’t mind paying a premium for no ads. Although even then, often all we’re getting between the overs is just a re-hash of the previous over we’ve just watched. Great. A block, a two, a one, a block, a block, a nose-pick,…
Fox got the T10 rights from SLC early in Dec & could have negotiated to get the Aus tour too. They were probably waiting to get it at the cheapest price & 7 pounced seeing the popularity.
For a service that prides itself on being the premier sporting service in this country and charging us money, it’s sure being outclassed by 7 this summer. Disappointing honestly.
English international Lauren Winfield-Hill, who recently played for Brisbane Heat in the WBBL, was a commentator for today’s third Women’s Ashes ODI in Hobart for Fox Cricket.
Not sure if it is a new series or repeat, but at two series and ten episodes in each, if this is brief, I’d wonder how long a “detailed” version would go for.
