Fox Cricket

It did the trick, we won!

Seems like tonights game might be off the tube - Bianca Chatfield and Brad Haddin hosting from the studio

Confirmed - Mark Waugh and Mike Hussey must have raced across to the studio to join Huddo

Fox calling tonight’s BBL game off the tube from the Fox Footy studio in Melbourne. They are using the AFL360 set.

Meantime pulling out the big guns with Erin Holland and Kirby Short at the Brisbane Cricket Ground.

Erin Holland is Seven

So is Kirby… I think he must be referring to Seven’s coverage.

Kirby does both doesn’t she? Was on Fox earlier.

Last year was 7 for WBBL & internationals but was boundary for Fox during BBL when Fox did commentary from studio. Looks the same this year.

Erin (7 host broadcaster) was doing the Flip which Fox showed. Kirby is on the ground for Fox doing interviews etc

Fox have just run “Breaking News” graphics that Australia have both declared and will bat on this morning - which is it?!?

Australia batted this morning and were bowled out for 339 after 1.4 overs, giving India 340 to win.

This KFC promo looks pretty interactive. Great idea, one way to get couch potatoes more involved in the game. I think this is the second year it’s run. Maybe no need for it here?

I think they are two separate things.

Warner when playing for the Thunder is just like any other player and giving his insights as a Thunder player.

Warner when commentating on FOX is him giving commentary in a professional capacity.

What it was, it worked - Thunder won. :grinning:

BJ was getting pretty annoyed last night when Bilbo kept on answering every question about what the Renegades were doing with the line ‘well they had to do that’.

More broadly, I can understand how annoying it must be for players having to engage in this constant chatter in the middle of play. I like what Chris Green did the other night in mid-conversation, cutting the Fox boys off and saying ‘I’ll talk to you after the over’… as he was bowling the final deliveries of the match.

When it comes to players on the mic, I like it when we’re just ‘listening in’ live… like hearing Moises Henriques and the discussions he has has with Ben Dwarshuis for example, such an insight. True ‘mediaspy’ type stuff.

Something funny picked up on the stump mic yesterday

Fox seem to be offtube for this evening’s Big Bash game at the Adelaide Oval. Guha, Haddin and O’Keefe are presumably commentating from the studio in Sydney.

When at the ground they have started the pre game from the ground to show they are at the ground. Today they didn’t. It’s the big NYE game and they can’t be bothered to be at the ground.

At this point they should simulcast 7’s world feed if they can’t be to properly do it. Like they did during covid before doing their commentary with 7’s graphics etc

Fox going ultra low budget tonight by just using the “fake” commentary box set in Sydney that has 1 camera. Didn’t even bother to use the main studio.

Fox had 12 commentators at the SCG today. That’s too many voices for mine, kinda makes the tone of the coverage all cluttered and confused.

It’s pushing commentators such as Guha and O’Keefe to engage in infantile banter and inane puffery to be able to stand out from the rest of the crew, moreover, it’s shocking how much Guha has regressed as a commentator from when she first started out at Fox in 2018.

I also get a sense that Fox are trying too hard to try and replicate the inimitable Bill Lawry - Tony Greig dynamic with Waugh and Vaughan. That effort’s unsurprisingly been hit and miss.

All in all, I find 7 are still the superior broadcaster for Test cricket.
