No I never said that. I was replying to the comment about O’Keeffe

They might just do what Sony does then. It seems the best option. Just have your own commentators when Vaughan is on air

Mammoth effort from Morne Morkel today. He was in commentary for every single ball of the Marsh Cup match between South Australia and Queensland. Brenton Speed and Adam Peacock rotated every half hour or so.

According to today’s Daily Telegraph, Fox Sports presenter Jessica Yates will add cricket to her portfolio, parachuted straight into BBL following the Bathurst 1000 race this weekend.

BT confirmed it was considering a “hybrid approach” to ensure that Vaughan does not appear due to Azeem Rafiq’s allegations during their time playing for Yorkshire.

“We are still finalising plans but we are assessing the option of taking a hybrid approach, using Fox commentary where possible with the aim of putting our own commentary team in place if necessary.”

Don’t you just love how Sydney-centric Fox is (Footy excluded)…

Have Fox announced the list of commentators for the Ashes? Given that Vaughan isn’t available for the first couple of tests due to a positive covid test, will they sign a replacement?

Fox Cricket launches Ashes coverage with unmissable monument ‘Mount Foxmore’ on Bondi Beach

image

Fox Cricket has launched its coverage of the 2021-22 Ashes Series with three of the most revered and well-known voices in cricket celebrated in a four-metre-tall, larger than life monument on Sydney’s iconic Bondi Beach.

Coined ‘Mount Foxmore’, the sculpture features the “Mount Rushmore” of commentary teams - celebrating the legendary voices of Fox Cricket’s Shane Warne, Adam Gilchrist and former England international Isa Guha .

The Mount Rushmore inspired sculpture that was the larger-than-life backdrop to the Fox Cricket launch today took over 160 hours to craft and involved 3D facial scans of Fox Cricket’s commentary team to create lifelike appearances of the legends that will voice the summer of cricket to Foxtel Group’s 2.4 million sports subscribers in Australia.

“It doesn’t get any bigger than this. An Ashes Series on home soil with both sides raring to go is the pinnacle of world sport and something that every player strives towards. I’d love to be out there myself, but I’ll settle for my seat in the commentary box alongside the best in the business.” said Shane Warne.

“There is nothing quite like an Australian Summer of Cricket and I’m excited to be back for what will no doubt be a thrilling few months. The Ashes will be edge-of-your-seat, must-watch television, and it’s an honour to call the action. Time will tell which side will etch their story into the history books of the sport.” said Isa Guha

Steve Crawley, Fox Sports Executive Director added: “It feels like Fox Cricket has been preparing for The Ashes for the past three summers – every step, innovation, every commentator signing … this is what it’s all about. Australia versus England. Adam Gilchrist, Shane Warne, Isa Gua, Mark Waugh, Mike Hussey, Brett Lee, Kerry O’Keeffe, Mark Howard, Michael Vaughan, Kath Loughnan and Allan Border, they’re all ready to go and we have some magical new tricks for our Fox Cricket audience.”

This summer, Aussies can enjoy every 2021-22 Ashes Test, each Men’s and Women’s international played in Australia and BBL|11 and WBBL|07 live and in HD, with the best cricket commentary team in the world on FOXTEL and Kayo with some matches in 4K Ultra-High-Definition on Foxtel. With ad-free coverage during play, fans can enjoy every unmissable moment this cricket season has to offer with over 1300 hours of unrivalled coverage.

“I can’t wait to watch Maxxy ( Glenn Maxwell ) and Stoin ( Marcus Stoinis ) go big for the Stars and my boys at the Sixers aim to achieve the three-peat.”

“Chris Lynn is a key part of their set-up – he needs to have a good start to the season for them to have a chance at finals.”

So no change to Fox’s usual team, seems a very understated approach to the summer. With Vaughan not around till probably Boxing Day due to covid, no dedicated England expert other than Guha, who is more of a presenter.

Ah well, at least Mount Foxmore will provide ample reason for some cringeworthy banter from Shane Warne through the summer.

From not having any guest commentators/pundits to the understated promotion, it really does feel like Fox are “going through the motions” for the biggest event of their rights agreement. By contrast, Seven have signed up a number of people to provide an England perspective to their Ashes coverage and they’ve been promoting the series heavily.

It’s strange because you would think it would be Fox (especially because they’ll be the host broadcaster) who would pull out all the stops for The Ashes.

Fox doesn’t have the same amount of enthusiasm as they had in 2018 when they took over. Reduced amount of magazine shows, now using CA feeds for domestic games- doesn’t even include an analysis anymore, now this lack of care to the biggest series in this broadcast deal.

Graphics are bit improved on BBL , should get a look at the final graphics package tonight.

I’d take it covid is the reason for the cutbacks since 2018.

Final product of the Fox graphics?
