Herald Sun’s Scott Gullan reports that James Hird will appear on the midweek edition of Footy Classified, which will move from Wednesdays to Tuesdays from next year, to be hosted by Eddie McGuire. Hird will be joined by Jimmy Bartel and Damian Barrett on the Tuesday episode. Matthew Lloyd will only appear on the Monday edition as he intends to focus more on his coaching career with Haileybury College in 2025.
Bad move, given it will be up against Thursday Night Football on Seven for most of the year, unless they are expecting people to tune in after the AFL has finished.
Thursday Night Football isn’t on Tuesday’s though.
Sorry I thought it said Thursdays.
Still would there be enough to discuss on a Tuesday that they hadn’t already discussed on a Monday?
Well 7 are having a panel show every night so they must think there’s enough to discuss?
I don’t think that’s quite what been said, there is AFL content every night… some of those nights are just games.
That’s what I meant though. I don’t literally mean “every night”.
James Hird is an interesting choice. Really looking forward to that.
Judging of all the reports and speculation in the media, it looks like next years line-up will be something like this:
Monday: Sam McClure, Tom Morris, Rory Sloane and Matthew Lloyd
Tuesday: Eddie McGuire, Damian Barrett, Jimmy Bartel and James Hird
Can you have a show with 4 panellists who can’t host?
Nine should just can the Monday show if that’s their lineup.
Sam McClure is a host. He has filled in for Hutchy and Ed on numerous occassions, and would be a suitable choice now he will have more spare time in 2025 with him stepping down from WWOS on 3AW.
He’s the best of the four at hosting, but hardly of the standard needed, and didn’t seem to get any better at it from all the times he was the fill in.
It’s that bad that I’d take Tony Jones over any of them as host.
According to the Herald Sun, Sam McClure will host the Monday night edition of Footy Classified from next year. McClure will be joined by returning panelist Matthew Lloyd, with Tom Morris expected to join the team too, however Nine are struggling to come up with a replacement for Kane Cornes.
Collingwood champion Scott Pendlebury in talks to join Footy Classified after mass exodus
Collingwood champion Scott Pendlebury is rumoured to be in the running for a hot seat on Footy Classified.
Talk about the current 403 game premiership veteran filling a role is gaining momentum with a vacancy still on the Monday night edition of the program after the mass exodus of talent to Channel 7.
Pendlebury impressed when he joined Seven as an analyst during the finals.
It sounds awful.
Joining the panel of Footy Classified and others
I hope Rory Sloane can be good. I’m sure many doubted Kane Cornes but I thought he did quite well on the show.
Footy Classified moves from Wednesday to Tuesday, now with Rory Sloan and James Hird joining the franchise.
“James Hird is a big name we haven’t seen on air in a regular role for a very long time. So I think he’ll be a really powerful addition to that franchise.”
AFL is close to Turner’s heart, having played A Grade amateurs in Melbourne, before moving to Sydney and starting a family.
“I played probably seven years in Melbourne, shattered my kneecap then moved up to Sydney and played two years there, and that was it. But I still I coach AFL. I coach my daughter in Sydney, so I’m still involved.”
Sounds like Rory Sloane won’t be joining Footy Classified after all, according to an article in the Herald Sun today revealing the footy line-ups this year
- Monday nights: Sam McClure, Damian Barrett, Matthew Lloyd and Jimmy Bartel
- Tuesday nights: Eddie McGuire, Tom Morris, James Hird and rotating guest
Oh the downgrade of what this show once was.
