They’d be better off going back to one a week instead of the two.
Do Nine hold a trademark for “Caro’s Arrow”?
If not, it could show up on Talking Footy next year.
The Val-Kaneo can go to 7’s Sunday afl show too
I wonder is Caroline would wear the Seven pin - I can’t imagine she is the type that would wear it…
Well apparently she has now:
Also, she was a regular on Talking Footy prior to Seven losing the rights at the end of 2001
If all 3 are going Lloydy’s Closing Cook for all 3 leaving hosts will be hilarious tomorrow night!
Herald Sun reporting there are crisis talks at Channel 9 this morning regarding Craig Hutchison, Caroline Wilson and Kane Cornes’ departure to Seven.
Executives are yet to decide whether Footy Classified will go to air tonight, worried about giving too much publicity to Channel 7.
Members of the Wednesday night team have been put on notice that they may be required to join Matthew Lloyd on the desk tonight.
Has it been confirmed he’s also moving?
More or less. The article said his position at Nine is now untenable given his company’s role in producing footy coverage for Seven next year.
Might have to tune in for once tomorrow night just to see what the on-air reaction is (if there is any).
Eddie McGuire has done this for years and he is still at Nine.
What programs has Eddie produced for 7? You have to give it to 7 though they are going hard next year. Some really good talent they have gone and got.
If there’s any chance of the show continuing, there needs to be a reaction. Get Lloyd to host it solo tonight would send a message.
His production company JAM TV produces VFL and AFLW match coverage for Seven I believe.
IIRC also does SANFL coverage for Seven - took over I believe after the ABC lost the rights.
This would be hilarious.
Shows going ahead as usual
How’s the show going so far?
No mention of their departures at the end of the show. Hutchy simply thanked the production staff for their efforts this year and the program finished.
I wonder how Caroline, in particular, felt about that. She’s only been on the show for 18 years and no acknowledgment or flowers!
I certainly hope Nine can find a good lineup to continue Footy Classified next year - it’s important for there to be a show covering the AFL outside of the rights holders.
The AFL has already got way too much with their in house reporting on themselves, and there’s always a level that Seven and to a lesser extent Fox will push on negative reporting about the AFL, being so intertwined with the success of the league.
Even if that’s just narrowing down to once a week - the Monday show as a review of the previous week is a little more important and was always the stronger of the two.
