If you lose this weekend there’s no chance you make it through. It’ll go to 2nd in the league.

They wouldn’t exist without Foxtel.

Is that codified?

Foxtel could have and should have helped out more than they did at that stage.

Plans for a second division and pro/rel in the long term should have been planned out when the A-League came into being to put out the South Melbournes and Sydney Uniteds of the world once and for all.

You can’t give it to fourth in the cup :joy:

They owe us.

We’ll win on the weekend, but gotta have plan B through Z.

Wrexham have posted their first win since their promotion to the EFL Championship, beating Millwall 2-0 away from home.

It’s called playing a pre-season competition when you’re in season.

The NPL and Australian Championship needs to be put in their place.

They play in the summer like the A-League, other pro/rel doesn’t work.

And the Jets are into the Australia Cup final! Cop that Avondale!

The cupset ends October 4.

Presuming a home final with AAMI out of action that weekend.

Is Lakeside Stadium at Albert Park available? I reckon Heidelberg’s home ground may be too small for the final.

As much as I’d love the final to be in Newcastle, they’ll keep it in Victoria and find a different ground to keep the lower ranked team being the home team thing going.

Having said that, you’ll get McDonald Jones Stadium easily. Knights Women are done as of September 14, and I don’t think we’ll get a home final in the NRLW. It’ll be well and truly ready for football come October 4.

Correct, the only option keeping the current date is Lakeside.

McDonald Jones is free, and I know that the broadcast setup there is much more favourable for 10 (plus no need for a flight and accommodation for Tara, Robbie, Harps and experts.

No. Just no.

This is not a proper second division, it should not have taxpayers dollars blown on it.

If you really want to support grassroots, give that money to the community, neighbourhood clubs. Not clubs that have allegedly diverted money from their juniors to the first team and support the Ustaše (Croatian nazis).

The Socceroos have beaten New Zealand 1-0 in the first match of the Soccer Ashes at GIO Stadium in Canberra, thanks to the 87th minute goal by Max Balard, who came on to the field as a substitute two minutes earlier.

Trigger Warning: Rant incoming…

You are fucking joking, right?

This is an NPL ground. Max capacity 12,000. around 7,000 of it seated. McDonald Jones Stadium’s seated capacity is 3 times their seated capacity and nearly 2-3x that in total capacity. The infrastructure at MJS, however half-arsed, is better than Lakeside - the fact that we get NRLW Magic Round, NSW vs Queensland Women’s State of Origin and regular Super Rugby and international football matches should tell you that we are more than capable of hosting major events.

I know you couldn’t get AAMI Park, but fuck me dead. Newcastle would sell out MJS and if the gate receipts are being split, Heidelberg would come out a lot better money wise.

All because you want to keep the image of supporting the state federations and NPL clubs. When does common sense come into the equation? Oh wait, sorry, this is Australian football. Common sense has never come into play. No wonder players choose to represent other countries other than us and finding corporate support is difficult for Football Australia and the APL.

We need another Crawford Report.

I’m struggling to see the issue here - just because the Jets are higher in the Pyramid doesn’t give them the automatic right to host the game.

There are bigger issues in the game IMO - like the fact that we’re a month away from the traditional start of the top competition in the country and we still don’t have a fixture.
