Phoenix, United and Mariners set to enter w-league
According to The Sunday Telegraph, talks are underway between Football Australia and the NSW Government to have the Socceroos hosting Oman in the World Cup qualifier at Sydney’s Bankwest Stadium on Thursday night, October 7. Only fans and corporate guests with proof they are double vaccinated will be to buy tickets. Visiting players, coaching staff and officials would be in Sydney in biosecurity bubbles, with five days’ preparation before the game and would then leave the next morning.
The Socceroos have won their 10th match in a row, beating Vietnam 1-0 in the World Cup Asian qualifier in Hanoi tonight, thanks to Rhyan Grant’s header two minutes from half-time. It was Grant’s first international goal.
Phoenix will enter W-League from this season.

Under the terms of Wellington joining the W-League, at least seven players must be Australian, while up to four more can be visa players.
The team will be run as a partnership between Wellington Phoenix and New Zealand Football. It is likely to be based in NSW for the early stages of the coming season, until the resumption of the Trans-Tasman travel bubble.
Womens league football? Not real football.
That’s great Hopeful for them to do well in future games.
What a load of shit
It in its current format ,especially here in the UK where there isn’t enough to make it as great as the men’s competition. They can’t even afford a VAR system-…so currently in its state it is not really football. Not enough investment or cash flow. Even the ref’s aren’t considered professional .
So in other words I stand by my claim. Maybe I should have just said that because as we all know the left wingers here would have a field day thinking its discrimination what I just said. Political correctness and bias and all.
What an utter load of shit - you might want to reassess what “real” football actually is
Relegated from the Premier League? You might as well fold!
Nope. Your not worth debating about it. I stand by my opinion.
I fail to see how whether it has VAR or not and whether they pay enough is a measure of it being “real” football
The quality argument is garbage as well - the quality of the A League is pretty dire in comparison to a lot of other competitions, on your metric it mustn’t be real football either.
You clearly don’t like Women’s football and that’s fine - no one is forcing you to, but don’t make such stupid and outlandish claims about it.
If that’s your attitude then perhaps you shouldn’t participate in the forums - there is no need to be fragile about someone saying something contrary to your opinion.
The A-League and W-League fixtures were announced for the rest of 2021 today, with reigning Premiers and Champions Melbourne City hosting Brisbane at AAMI Park on the 19th of November to open the season.
The W-League will begin with the debut of the Wellington Phoenix who will come up against the Wanderers, at a venue still TBC, on the afternoon of Friday the 3rd of December. Viking Park then welcomes 4-time champions Melbourne City up against home side Canberra United at 7:45pm.
Speaking of it…
The allegations raised in the Four Corners story.
The A-League and W-League were renamed A-Leagues today, along with a new logo.
This morning, the W-League Twitter account was changed to A-League Women.
EDIT: however, there is already a SA-based building consulting firm with a very similar logo:
