Cheer up, fella. Every one of your posts seems to be critical or negative these days. You’re not in one of Politics threads. Relax. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

This was still an amazing achievement by the Socceroos.

20 years and 7 days since the heartbreaking 2006 exit also via a spot kick (questionable) to Italy in stoppage time

I thought the call to switch keepers was a little too clever.

Penalty takers are all planned and agreed prior to the match though, and it would have been the players themselves who put themselves forward to do that. Souttar wore the captain’s armband (until Ryan came on) - I like that he went forward to take the first penalty. He was huge for us in defence, one mistake doesn’t change that.

Herrington will be a class player for a long time to come and will sink many more penalties in his career. I can’t wait to watch. Bring on 2030!

Sucks to see the Socceroos bow out. But to make the Final 32 is still good nonetheless.

Argentina narrowly beating Cabo Verde 3-2 in Extra Time was a nail-biter game to watch.

Colombia claimed the last spot in the round of 16 with a 1-0 win over Ghana in Kansas City Stadium. Jhon Arias scored in the 14th minute.

Good to see a Socceroo legend agree with me! I like Popovic but he stuffed this one up!

I’m used to disappointment. So, sad, but meh.

We are cursed in the knockout stages of a World Cup.

John Safran needs to fly to Italy and Egypt with a detour to Buenos Aires to lift our knockout stage curse just as he did back in 2004 when he traved to Mozambique in John Safran vs God to lift the witch doctor qualification curse

No, we aren’t. In both before 2026, we were beaten by sides much better than us (and then went on to win the Cup).

Yesterday was the closest matchup we could expect.

Again, I have become used to sporting disappointment. Sometimes it helps to lower your expectations. Can’t recommend it highly enough.

Realistically given our squad and world ranking, making it to the knockout stage is probably the best possible outcome too.

We’re in the top 5 asian nations and we’ve exited at the same time as all of the other asian qualifiers - its fair to say we’ve performed as well as could be expected.

In this morning’s results, France edged out Paraguay 1-0 in Philadelphia, with Mbappe scoring the penalty in the 70th minute, after Diego Gomez stuck his leg out and tripped Doue in front of goal.

Earlier, Canada’s World Cup journey came to an end after losing 3-0 to Morocco in Houston, with all goals scored in the second half.

US player Falorin Balogun’s red card from the round of 32 clash against Bosnia and Herzegovina has been overturned by FIFA, following an intervention by Donald Trump. Balogun’s one match ban resulting from the red card is now suspended for one year.

Belgium’s governing body said that it was considering all options. Belgium will play against the US next.

An Erling Harland double in the second half helped Norway sink Brazil 2-1 in New Jersey. Neymar scored a penalty for Brazil very late in the match.

England vs Mexico got delayed BTW. Kickoff at 11am.

Utterly disgraceful. Let’s hope he’s entirely ineffectual and Belgium win 4-0
