I think it is women’s professional sport in general that will get the most benefit out of the Matilda’s success, rather than soccer/football itself… I think that will inspire more younger women to get into sport and be the next Sam Kerr in soccer or whatever sport they choose, knowing there is the potential to make a good living out of it if they are good enough.

I am sure this will prove to be the case. The big winners will be the AFLW and probably women’s cricket and the NRLW - i.e. the sports with an ongoing commercial dominance in Australia that can back in women’s sport
