Fetch TV

Did Paramount takeover the ad sell from Foxtel on Nick/MTV?

Telstra has begun to sell Fetch … fine print mentions a multiroom cost (seriously Telstra?!?) of $5/ mth (waived till August next year) … unclear if they’ll inflict this on current - especially retail - customers.
If they do, I’ll be reconsidering my custom…

Is that an additional cost for a Fetch Mini in a second room?

Multiroom Offer

Multiroom allows you to share recordings, movies, TV shows and Channel Packs between boxes. Multiroom is charged at $5/mth per customer. From August 15th, 2023, until August 31st, 2024, customers with more than 1 Fetch box will receive Multiroom on us. After August 31st, 2024, customers must opt-in and purchase multiroom for $5/mth to continue sharing content between boxes. If Multiroom is not purchased after August 31st, 2024, any content purchased will only be available on the box it was purchased on. We will send you communications prior to August 2024 to advise you of the changes.

So you can’t share recordings across your own network?

I could be wrong but I think it’s the same if you get Fetch directly now so that multi-room fee may be more because of Fetch.

Is this only a charge for those who pay the monthly fee to have a box with Telstra though, like they did with Telstra TV? Those who buy the boxes outright shouldn’t be paying a fee.

No mention of a fee… and hopefully stays that way.

Except that with Fetch-via-Telstra you still have to pay for the boxes outright (albeit can be spread out over 24 months), like you did with Telstra TV [unless you had loyalty status with Telstra]. I wouldn’t be surprised if it eventually comes to Fetch retail in the future, as there may not be as much of a difference in future besides being able to be billed on a Telstra account.

The other resellers still being generally rental-based - they can pretty much still set their own prices, and the extra $10 a month you pay for the extra box probably covers that, for now at least. (Although the iiNet group still make you pay roughly half the cost of a Mini - ninety bucks - as a setup fee, AussieBB doesn’t I think.)

Was 5 a month with Optus for the second I believe

Notice anything missing from Telstra’s Fetch app listing?

Has Optus pulled it from the platform yet?

Optus sport app is still on my fetch box as is the streaming channel in the TV guide

Ditto to this. I’m not sure why they don’t list it on the apps.

Nothing saying that Optus Sport won’t keep being available when bought through other resellers/direct - for now at least. As for Fetch as sold through Telstra though… are you in any way surprised?

No Binge?

No Optus Sport it seems if you order Fetch through Telstra.

So is the app not on there at all?

This could be interesting if it’s true, it could mean that the Telstra boxes will be running different firmware to the retail and other ISP boxes - that means if Kayo/Binge/Flash(haha) make it to the platform as someone on Whirlpool has apparently said is still occurring, it will possibly only be on the Telstra boxes.

Or Telstra just don’t want to promote that the Optus Sports App is on it

They were running different firmware versions for ISP supplied boxes already
