Fetch TV

The thing for me is that I wouldn’t go and look up and put on a documentary or show from those channels, but if it’s on I would watch it.

Exactly. There are some good shows on during prime time that you wouldn’t have found if it was on a streaming platform. You can spend half an hour scrolling through a genre and have no idea what to watch. That’s the good thing about linear TV and having good content on, it’s easy to watch in prime time and you don’t have to search for it.

I thought that Ticker News was meant to begin today

Ticker TV still not on Fetch, maybe this will launch on Mar 31, the same day Nat Geo and Nat Geo Wild disappear?

Fetch boxes have been updated to Software Version 3.30 Acacia this week.

What is changing?

Your Home Menu will move to the bottom of the screen.

This is a major update with changes to the menu structures and how some of the navigation works, so it may take you some time to get used to using it. However, we’re confident that once you do you’ll agree that it makes it easier than ever to explore and enjoy all the great content available with Fetch.

The changes will make it easier for you to find the things you want to watch, see all the places they are available on Fetch, and find the best (and cheapest) way for you to watch.

We’ve also increased personalisation and added new tech wizardry in My Stuff, so you can now see all the things you have been watching across channels, shows, movies, apps, and streaming services all on one screen. Making it super simple to select and continue watching the things you love.

Updated mine last night, will take a little bit to get used to - have had the old interface since I got it many years ago but it looks pretty good, hopefully Kayo won’t be too far away for it and it does seem like it’s being set up for those types of changes now with the Telstra ownership.

Hopefully Kayo and Foxtel Now.

Got the link for the updated PDF file for the changes for anyone interested, seems to be quite a mixed reaction to it all which isn’t really a surprise.

There’s a few things that are better but I’m annoyed by others.

It now takes more clicks on your remote to access some things.

For example, instead of just selecting a recording and it playing, you have another menu pop up and you have to press Watch.

Looking for my recordings, I now have to scroll past My Stuff, My Shows, My Movies to get to Recordings.

Also, the banner was already huge and obtrusive. Now, they have moved Play, Pause etc. to the bottom of the banner making it bigger. It’s really annoying when you fast forward and the banner stays on screen for few seconds while you’re trying to watch the show and the big banner covers the action.

Kayo (and Binge) maybe. Foxtel Now definitely not though - it makes no sense.

Curiosity Stream and Love Nature are now on Fetch. A good choice to replace Nat Geo and Nat Geo Wild.

Still no History Channel or Ticker TV.

It now makes sense why 7+ ceased Love Nature a week or so ago and replaced it with NatureTime if this article is anything to go by:

So Love Nature on Fetch must be a proper linear channel or at least classed as one by Blue Ant Media.

Are either/both actual channels per se or merely ‘virtual playlist’ offerings?

They’re actual channels, similar to Nat Geo and Nat Geo Wild. You can record each program and watch from the start if you join after it’s commenced.

This is unlike the FAST channels , where you can’t record a program or watch one from the beginning if you start watching it after it’s already started.

There’s another category of channel on Fetch though, which I think is what @Jeffmister was referring to. I’ve seen them referred to as “AVC” and they virtually play from an on-demand library. BBC Kids, BBC Brit and ZooMoo are some examples.

Yep - that’s what I meant. The likes of BBC Kids and BBC Brit appear in the Fetch guide as if they’re channels but when you select it, it plays the current ‘scheduled’ program from the beginning in an on demand fashion.

No, it’s a normal linear channel , just like BBC News or MSNBC.

11 new channels on Fetch from today, including Ticker TV, Gusto, Nature time, Now 70s, Now 80s and Now Rock.

Interestingly, BeInSports is still showing in the TV guide and channel packs, but for how long?
