Federal Politics

Police currently at a school polling place in Warringah where a Zali/Get Up supporter(s) has been pulling down Abbott/Liberal signs and pulled a knife on a Liberal putting up signs.

Not going to help their cause. I think Tony will be gone as it is, they donā€™t need to ruin their chances with sabotage/bad sportsmanship.

I donā€™t recall ever having such a dirty campaign in Australian politics.

Deplorable :face_with_head_bandage: like America we are now becoming a joke where now you have to pick a side and once you cross that fence you will have a target of hatred and this sort of behaviour which is disgusting.

There is no need to rip off signs and pull out knives on a volunteer.

OK, slight correction here folks.

It wasnā€™t a knife, it was a corkscrew.

Thereā€™s no suggestion the person was aligned to the Steggall campaign - theyā€™re not the only ones who have an issue with Abbott.

No real difference. Still unacceptable.

Thereā€™s a video on Twitter, though it may have been deleted, where the offended says heā€™s a Zali supporter.

Big difference between supporting a candidate and being involved in their campaign, mind

Did you even read my original post? Or did you not bother? Or canā€™t you read?

Fake news.

Weird how you always go for the ad hominem rather than engage in what people are saying.

Itā€™s an ugly act, but itā€™s not right to infer a supporter is in any way connected to a campaign. Anyone can put up placards or posters - they arenā€™t the exclusive domain of a candidateā€™s campaign team.

Likewise, anyone can vandalise or try and take things down they donā€™t like. Heā€™s since been charged, and Iā€™m sure NSW Police will conduct a thorough investigation.

I did not say or infer he was part of her campaign. IIRC, I used the word ā€˜supporterā€™.

Has anyone received ā€œjunk mailā€ telling you to vote for Clive Palmerā€™s party?

Yes. Went straight into the bin.

All voted. Done and dusted for another 3 years. This election has been brutal. One thing that really annoys me is the wasted resources. Even the greens party saying they are all about the environment and then handing out paper to everyone. Bit of a contradiction.

Iā€™m concerned about people who vote for Tony Abbott after Tony has supported a convicted pedophile. Extremely grim that an elected representative would be advocating for a convicted pedohpile.

I donā€™t like Tony Abbott either but I donā€™t agree with your comment.

From all accounts Abbott said he accepted the verdict of the jury but would await the outcome of the appeal before making any final judgments.

I believe that is quite fair.

This morning I voted at Glen Waverley Primary School (which is located in the seat of Chisholm) and did not see the Chinese sign.

And those annoying text messages

Possibly had been pulled down by the AEC by then if it was in an inappropriate location?

Anyhow, I pity anyone who hasnā€™tade their mind up by the time of voting. Iā€™m about to head off now, wonā€™t be accepting a singe piece of paper. Seems so wasteful.

I always know how Iā€™m going to vote in my local electorate then make it up on the day in the senate.

I do wish the ballot papers would include something to reflect preference flows (though that could look very complicated very quickly).

Rocked up to the local airport this morning just in time to watch the RAAF jet leaving with ScoMo. Not sure when he arrived in Devonport but he was in Bass earlier this morning. Nice to hear the roar of the jets and smell the jet fuel around this area! Heā€™d be landing in Sydney about now or would have in the last little while.
