Federal Election 2016 Media Coverage

Didn’t James Mathison confirm it through Twitter?

Not that I can recall. If you can find the tweet?

On Twitter it was a joke, rather than confirmation.

If it’s true that Ten aren’t running full coverage on Election Night, then I’m disappointed but not really surprised.

As it’s been said before, there have been major cutbacks to the news/current affairs department at Ten since they last covered a Federal Election and perhaps the money isn’t there to do coverage anymore. If they can’t air national (let alone local, but that’s another story) weekend news in some markets because of sport, if they can’t run proper State Election night coverage for Australia’s most populated states, then how can we expect Ten to run Federal Election coverage anymore?

Well, at least we don’t have the lowest rating version of ‘The Verdict’

Sort of election coverage:

Turnbull & Shorten to join Annabel Crabb on Kitchen Cabinet

Thursday 23 June at 8pm
Campaign Cabinet

Wednesday 29 June at 8pm
Bill Shorten

Thursday 30 June at 8pm
Malcolm Turnbull

New episodes or repeats?

Shorten could cook a sausage for me any day, the sexy devil.

Repeats no doubt. Was last election.

It’s the right choice for Ten to do nothing. There’s no chance of them rating.

As opposed to what Ten usually air on Saturday nights?

IMO, Ten should be doing some form of Election Coverage (even though realistically, we know they won’t) and leaving the alternative programing to the multichannels.

In regards to Ten scheduling, here is what the schedule looks like on the night.
5pm Ten Eyewitness News First At Five
6pm Modern Family (rpt)
6.30pm Bondi Vet
7.30pm To Be Advised
8.30pm Movie - Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol
11pm Shark Tank - Encore

High chance that 7:30pm on Ten will be The Election Project.

One hour won’t be enough to cover the election count plus they will miss out on speeches by Turnbull and Shorten.

Not even evidence of a late news update. Even when they were cheap and nasty they would run something from 9:30. Back in 1996 they went to air at 9:30. And they’ve also taken most of the victory and concession speeches live when they weren’t mounting long form coverage.

That shitty mission impossible movie won’t rate very well.

They are new episodes- Their second appearances on Kitchen Cabinet.
