A popular Red Rooster on the Sunshine Coast has quietly closed and been listed for sale after more than 20 years, leaving local residents shocked.

The two-storey drive-thru site in the heart of Noosaville’s fast-food strip on Mary Street has served hot chips and roast chook to locals since the early 2000s.

However, in recent weeks the popular chicken joint has shuttered with little fanfare.

The site is now listed for sale, with Tracey Ryan of Ray White Commercial Noosa and Sunshine Coast handling the campaign.

The Dandenong South restaurant at 1A Assembly Drive sold almost 20,000 burgers, 30,000 hand-breaded chicken tenders and 6500 Frostys in its first week.

That gave the store the highest-performing opening week in Wendy’s global history, beating benchmarks previously set by the brand’s Brisbane CBD flagship.

They seem to be really focused on Melbourne and Brisbane. No signs of stores opening yet in Sydney.

Seem the Jesmond KFC that closed down is being rebuilt on the old site of the 7 Eleven. Suppose it’s cheaper to build a new premises over the road than continue to pay rent on the Jesmond Central Site.

That KFC had been there for nearly 40 years

By the end of it there really wasn’t a difference between getting one of the Angus range and customising a Quarter Pounder

The grand opening (on July 2) followed the restaurant’s soft launch on June 24. According to Firehouse Subs, the second day of trade delivered one of the brand’s strongest international opening performances.

The company said the opening marks the start of its Australian and wider Asia-Pacific expansion through its master franchise partnership with Retail Food Group.

Australia’s first Garfield-themed lasagne bar has opened at Melbourne Central shopping centre. The pop up bar is open on lower ground floor, across from the train station entrance gates, until August 31.

Strange concept. An Americanised fast food version of Italian food. Sounds awful.

I much prefer listening to Am I Cool Or What?

Garfield lasagna bar takes up the same space formerly occupied by Cookie Monster.

After 35 years of operations in Greece, McDonald’s celebrates with a new Athens flagship restaurant in The Mall Athens, a large suburban shopping centre in Marousi.

The restaurant was designed by Sydney-based firm Landini Associates and introduces an upgraded version of the “Project Ray” concept.

The restaurant is also the first McDonald’s location in Greece to feature signage in the Greek alphabet “Μακ Ντόναλντς” and displaying the nickname “Μακ” - a reference to the affectionate name Greek customers have used for the brand over the past three decades.
