Fast Food/Takeaways and Restaurants

They use burger rolls and English muffins in their regular menu items, maybe that’s why?

Doesn’t explain the milk though, unless you count it’s use in McCafe drinks.

McDonald’s supply chain would make the availability of these items easy - especially if there is a decline in sales. Their stores are getting deliveries of these items on a regular basis (possibly daily) too

Good use of past Seven Network logos.

Even more interesting is that at least one of the other designs I’ve got (either the Big Mac or maccas cup - don’t remember and can’t check now) is made in Turkey. So they haven’t sourced them all from the same place.

Uber Eats was hit by a technical glitch last night meaning Melburnians had to wait a long time to have their food delivered, and in some cases had their orders cancelled. Bad timing as the city is still in lockdown and many people would be watching the Tokyo Olympics opening ceremony.

Uber Eats said affected customers and restaurants would be reimbursed.

I don’t know why people use these services like uber eats etc. anyway. It’s an awful business.

why? You still can support local businesses during lockdowns with ubereats

Uber Eats has a 30% commission fee for restaurants, with many losing money or barely breaking even on rideshare orders. It’s a similar tale for other delivery services too

If there’s a way that I can get food from them without using those services (even if it’s takeaway only etc.) that’s much more preferable.

not like the drivers get paid well either, just exploiting the poor and hurting small business owners. But the restaurants have to maintain a presence on there because that’s where all the customers are.

A lot of restaurants increase their prices on Uber Eats by 30%. So what they sell on Uber Eats is just as profitable. 30% commission seems quite excessive to me.

I see very few restaurants actually bother to have their own online ordering independent of the major apps, it’s something I expected would take off after COVID but hasn’t been the case.

A lot have joined Uber Eats during the pandemic that weren’t previously using any platform. It costs a bit of money to develop the app and the local Cafe just doesn’t have the money so they use Uber Eats or similar instead. My favourite local Cafe was not on any platform but I found them recently on Uber Eats, I was very happy. With higher prices but you can’t win everything.

I saw quite a few local initiatives here in Canberra back in 2020 where they committed to a better deal all around for businesses and delivery drivers etc., some of them had success appealing to specific niches (being aimed at specific areas of Canberra or for niche products like wine etc.) But it is difficult to gain any huge momentum when all of your customers only use Ubereats and Menulog etc.

the best compromise in that case is to find them on uber eats as you have but then contact them directly and seek to pay them without going through the uber eats platform.

Yes, I much prefer to go and pick it up myself.

Then I have to drive there find a carpark etc. If they are getting the same money I’d order on Uber Eats just for convenience. Most of the time the food is delivered timely and is hot by the time it arrives. But I live in Inner Western Sydney.

For those of you who don’t know what Matcha is, it’s pretty much just a fine green tea powder.

Looks delicious though. Don’t know about the burger but I bet it tastes better than it looks.

Yes, unfortunately McDonald’s is about the only burger option for me in lockdown too right now…

More plastic for landfill.
