Nothing spectacular.
Zambrero Queanbeyan are pretty consistent but agreed- not spectacular. It’s basically a Tex-Mex version of Subway. It’s convenient for me and better than Subway in any case.
Zambrero reminds me of Subway in one particular way. I will see an ad on a Subway window with something that looks delicious - say a “Texan Chicken Sub” - and I walk in and this is the conversation that happens:
Sandwich Artist: Can I help you?
Me: Could I have a footlong Texan Chicken Sub?
Sandwich Artist: What would you like on it?
I always want to reply “beef and tuna”
Zambrero do the same thing. You ask for a menu item and they ask what ingredients you would like. It’s good food though.
I can never work out if places like Zambrero are good for my health, better than other fast food options or I might as well eat four pieces of KFC. Yum.
Tried the Kentucky Fried Donuts at KFC today.
Maybe I just got an old batch, but they were pretty average. Definitely had that crumbly cooked-from-the-freezer texture.
Didn’t realise KFC launched their donuts today until I read your post.
According to Frugal Feeds, the donuts are not available in Tasmanian and WA stores. Why?
Speaking of chicken, I had a try at Red Rooster’s new fried chicken over the weekend. Actually quite surprised as I didn’t find it oily and it tastes good.
It’s OK but overpriced for what you get.
Was the batter seasoned? When I tried it for the first time, the batter tasted pretty ordinary, which is odd as their buttermilk wings are pretty good.
Is this what they are selling here?
Nope. Little donut balls, about the size of mashies.
I think they’re doing a different promo at the moment.
Batter wasn’t seasoned for some strange reason. I liked the crunch but. ![]()
Doesn’t sound very enticing to me.
Pass.
A good crunch is always good, definitely beats soggy batter.
getting hungry now
I’m kinda surprised the batter isn’t seasoned as their rotisserie seasoning is pretty good, so I feel adding whatever they use in that would greatly improve their fried batter as currently taste-wise, it’s nothing to write home about as is. ![]()
For the lack of a better thread, it’s almost time to get the defibrillator ready for Bacon on a Stick + the Deep Fried Pizza Burger!
Remembering that state/county fairs in the United States are world (in?)famous for weird barely edibles, I genuinely wonder what Americans would think about some of the food being sold at the Sydney Royal Easter Show (which in the past, has sold us cheeseburger pie + lasagne on a stick) and no doubt similar events around around Australia.
GET IN ME!!! ![]()
Where you going to stick it?
In my mouth. You sicko.
The Cuckoo buffet restaurant at Olinda in Victoria’s Dandenong Ranges has been forced to close permanently after 62 years, due to the loss of overseas tourists, lockdowns and restrictions on buffet dining caused by COVID-19. The restaurant, which is a local icon, is now up for sale.

Yogurtland is closing all of its 11 stores in NSW, ACT and QLD, citing the impact of COVID-19, with this Sunday (March 28) the last trading day.
More like it overstayed the time that the frozen yoghurt fad was a thing in the same way that cupcake stores all went out of business years ago.
