Family Feud

Finally Feud.

It’s a shame they built a new set which lasted only a few months. I loved this show so I’m sad it’s going. It has had a good run

Yay no more celebrity special filler shows! :joy:

Family feud finishes July 22nd.

After the final episode of Family Feud, Channel 10 need stuff that will replace the 6pm timeslot as of 23 July. However, The Project will still remain in its 6:30PM time slot. Something needs to change for the evening lineup.

Ten may just run repeats of Family Feud until the end of the year.

So I’m mega confused. Up until now I thought it was permanently axed, but according to this comment it’s just rested. What does that mean!?

I guess they’re just leaving the door open, in case they want or need to go back. If they try something else and it fails, they can make more Family Feud later in the year or next year.

Yeah Ten were pretty clear when they released a statement saying the show was being rested rather than axed, which let’s be real I’m sure we can all read between the lines there, not to mention the shows post says “We’ve had so much fun recording our last episodes for this season” so who knows… it could come back in another incarnation with revised format, new host and a one a week show or something etc.

Ten should be nervous and keeping their options open if Pointless is intended to be the replacement for Family Feud. I had another look at the British version and think it’s a little too highbrow for Ten’s audience. It’s an easy ask to expect viewers to guess top responses to a survey, a much tougher ask to get them to recall obscure facts about various sports, science topics and entertainment genres. I prefer the show to Hot Seat but think Ten would’ve been better off reviving something like The Rich List, the show Seven ran in prime time with Andrew O’Keefe as host about a decade ago.

And with a replacement needed for that slot in 6 weeks time ten have not announced or promoted anything to fill it. As usual poor planning and the lack of promotion will kill anything they try.

It leads into the BBC’s flagship news program. It’s got mass appeal.

I know it’s very competitive against The Chase in that “tea time” slot but i can’t see it having appeal to the average Ten viewer.

Doesn’t Ten Eyewitness News skew older than say, their other programming? I would’ve thought it would be a good thing if their lead out program was more aligned in terms of demos to the type of viewers who were already watching the news for retention purposes. The problem obviously would be the 6:30pm portion of The Project, which seems to rebuild itself from 7pm, but struggles to maintain or build its audience from its lead-in.

A month left of Famoly Feud.

Am I the only one who finds the reaction to the axing of this show a little over the top? Judging by this grovelling story, in which Grant says he regrets stating the obvious (that Family Feud was shown too much and this increased viewer fatigue), you’d think we’ve lost a landmark drama or cultural institution. And his reaction is fuelling it, he’s had shows axed before (It Takes Two, Million Dollar Minute) so should harden up.

I might be one of only a few, but our house is also mourning the loss of this show. We loved it and it was part of our weekday ritual whilst making dinner for everyone.

But we’ll survive!

In fairness, he made the comments on his radio show where he has to find things to say for three hours a day. I don’t think there was anything “over the top” about it. You can understand anybody being upset about their show being axed if they still enjoyed doing it, like he obviously does.

You have to remember Murdoch and News have a vendetta against Ten now and will print anything that slams the network and Ten executives.

News.com.au is owned by Murdoch and the story corrects the initial slamming. Why have they got a vendetta? If anything I thought the ABC was their main target. Ten are irrelevant to most Australians at the moment and the ratings show that.

Possibly to people who read newspapers but Ten was number channel and network for people under 55 on Monday - so not irrelevant to them.
