Eurovision Song Contest

All countries could pull out until December this year without financial penalty regardless if they have confirmed commentators/NFs etc.

Yeah the German leader made a few comments to that effect, but it was never an official policy or direction from their broadcaster. I suspect Germany would have been the only one to object, but I kind of suspect they wouldn’t have pulled out in the end. But yes, Israel should at least have been suspended this year when the war was in full flight and no ceasefire in place. I also think these new voting regulations seem pretty weak and easily ignored.

I wonder how many buckaroos did the shills in the Jewish lobby and Israel pay the EBU to ruin the competition?

And I’m sure that if the EBU told them to get stuffed they’d get all sensitive and accuse ‘antisemitism’.

Unfortunately I would say you are correct. Money will be at the centre of it, but we’ll never know exactly which hands it ended up in.

There were a few politicians who said they would put pressure on supporting the German broadcaster pull out if Israel was excluded. You see thats political interference and blackmail, so i kind of wouldve been interested to see how that played out (of course my preference would actually be no people dying and be in this situation)

About 600 people protested outside SBS offices at Melbourne’s Federation Square yesterday, demanding the broadcaster to boycott next year’s Eurovision Song Contest.

RÚV has confirmed that Iceland will not participate in Eurovision 2026

Given that Wednesday was the last day to withdraw without financial penalty, that likely means there will be 34 participants. The lowest number since the semi-finals were introduced in 2004.

The moment Israel’s public vote is announced in the 2026 final is going to be existential for Eurovision. If it’s another 300 points for a boring chatGPT ballad, surely at least another 8 countries will join the boycott.

Agree. If the vote is clearly corrupted again in 2026 then all hell is going to break loose.

Portugal is, in a way, withdrawing from Eurovision.

Don’t worry, the participant count can always go down to 33!

I don’t think Portugal will be the only country where we will see this occur.

The warning signs were there after the semi final in 2025. If that happens again hopefully Israel is disqualified before the grand final in 2026.

There will be 35 as Armenia are likely in. They never announce their participation prior.

Portugal will just select someone internally if need be, they won’t withdraw.

Has the Eurovision Song Contest only been broadcast on SBS or has it been on 7,9,10,ABC or Foxtel/Optus Vision?

only SBS

Yes, it was one of the first regular shows I ever watched on SBS.

I am kinda surprised ABC didn’t broadcast it in the earlier years like in the 1970s, especially when the likes of Olivia Newton-John represented UK.

They might as well shut up shop if they’re just kowtowing to Israel even if they’re not even in Europe.

Why don’t they just Suspend Eurovision for 2026 and bring it back in 2027 by then the Israel situation wouldve settled substantially and most countries will then Compete?
