Surprised there isn’t a press release for it.
Probably one of those ones that has been added to the schedule but they haven’t finalised presentation yet.
Any news on Foxtel/Kayo carriage deal? Current deal suppose to run out in June/July. No emails from Foxtel advising of removal of ESPN content yet as we see with MTV this week.
I believe this might be holding up the NBL deal for next season. Starts in 3 months and no deal signed yet.
The legal action in the comp has been holding up the NBL deal I’ve heard
Not sure if this has been mentioned but the Foxtel website has an update on the ESPN app being closed (I assume they mean the WatchESPN streams).
Closure of ESPN App in Australia
ESPN has made the decision to close their ESPN App in Australia. As a result, Foxtel Sports subscribers will no longer have access to the ESPN App as part of their entitlement. Access will be removed progressively on the following dates.
ESPN App iOS : May 28 2025
espn.com Web : June 5 2025
ESPN App Android : June 16 2025
I would’ve thought if they’re losing ESPN soon then they would’ve done this in one go rather than just closing the app.
I wonder how much of the content is going to Disney+.
That’s a shame as that is how I caught the information of cricket and Gold Cup coming to ESPN in advance as schedule goes a lot further than Foxtel.
Disney probably trying to push more subscribers to Disney+ more direct profits, my problem Disney+ it’s harder to find extra content compared to the ESPN app.
With majority of people now on Kayo who doesn’t have access to the ESPN app. Probably harder for Foxtel to justify paying for a service that majority no longer have access to it.
I am guessing Fetch will also loose access on same dates
Maybe it’s a bargaining chip to get Foxtel to pay more
It’s all there no apart from live channel ESPNU , news ect. Some content you need to manually search for does not come up overeise
Apparently the ESPN Australia website will also close this Thursday (June 5). Does it mean ESPN parent website will no longer carry reports on Australian sports (apart from ESPN Cricinfo which will continue to cover Australian cricket)?
Busy fortnight ahead for ESPN as it will broadcast both NBA and NHL Finals in Australia and New Zealand. The NBA Finals between Oklahoma City and Indiana start this Friday (AEST).
Let me guess…i need to resubscribe to Disney+?
For fucks sakes…
Is there any info about what ESPN will broadcast in Australia with the new NBA broadcast deal?
I assume they will broadcast ESPN/ABC games, some regional local broadcasts like they do now And NBC games which replaces TNT.
My question is Will they be also showing Amazon games? They do show TNF so I assume so but there more NBA games than the TNF so maybe Amazon wants people to watch it through Amazon
Amazon NFL rights are only for USA. This is a global deal so these NBA games will be on Amazon here.
I would think the NBC/Peacock games will be available on ESPN just like the TNT games were previously.
Two industry sources, speaking on condition of anonymity because the deal has not yet been formally signed off, told this masthead that ESPN was the preferred bidder for West Indies Cricket after surmounting Seven’s offer, which followed its purchase of the recent Sri Lanka series in January and February.
Pretty bold to have them in your forward schedule, when apparently a deal hasn’t been finalised yet - or you’re not ready to publicly confirm acquiring the rights lol.
Is this the first time ESPN has shown a Aus test Cricket tour?
As the second paragraph of the article says:
It’s the first time that an Australian cricket tour overseas will be seen on ESPN in this country, meaning it is also expected to be available on Disney Plus, as well as Foxtel, Kayo and Fetch.
SportsCenter anchor Jay Harris has revealed he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. He will be undergoing surgery to have his prostate removed, and will take a month off the show to recuperate.
ESPN is moving its morning shows to Disney’s new Hudson Square HQ, starting with Get Up today.
Closeups at the standing area looks more variety than the skyline - especially with monochrome photos of signature players.
The constant panning and camera motion makes you really curious on the space in in between the two areas…
Two other shows are making the move late June.
In a win for cricket fans, every ball from the tour will be available across the most widely distributed dedicated sports network in Australia and New Zealand, with the Australia-West Indies tour available to viewers on Disney+, Foxtel, Kayo Sports, Fetch TV, Sky NZ and Sky Sports Now.
I hadn’t even thought about it but yeah, aside from FTA, ESPN (overtaking Be-In now they have D+) is the most-available network in the country.
