In the fourth instalment of this unique fly-on-the wall series, the curtain is again pulled back for an exclusive, inside look at Royal Melbourne Hospital’s Emergency Department to expose the gripping reality of life working in the action-stations casualty ward.

Get to know the special team under the scrubs as Emergency gives you a window into the lives of the dedicated doctors, nurses and first responders striving to save the lives of those in need every day.

Joining the hospital hero favourites of previous Emergency series – Doctors Bjorn, Emma, George, Jonathan, Luke, Mark, Martin, Michael, Michelle, Mya and Nurses Ebony, Gemma and Sarah – the gripping new season welcomes several new faces: Dr Andrew Trezise, Dr Andrew Wallace, Dr Terry Kane, Dr Tsung Chung, Nurse Practitioners Paul Casey and Krystal Maloney, Nurses Liz Wheeler, Gigi Aumann and Nurse Unit Manager Susan Harding.

Mixing tragedy and humour with hope and joy, the heartwarming series follows the journey of patients through the eyes of this supremely skilled medical team.

In the season four premiere Dr Scott and Dr Jonathan fear for a pregnant woman badly injured in a high-speed traffic accident. Dr Andrew and Dr Jana must urgently treat a jockey who’s been crushed under a horse, leaving him with life-threatening injuries. Dr Jason attends to a patient in agony after crashing a motorbike into a truck. And Dr Martin and Nurse Sarah have to resort to translator apps to communicate with a scared young tourist hit by a car.

The Emergency team of dedicated doctors, nurses and first responders from previous series return: Doctors Bjorn, Emma, George, Jonathan, Luke, Mark, Martin, Michael, Michelle, Mya, Terry, Andrew, and Nurse Practitioner Paul. They are joined in the gripping new season by several new faces: Dr Assiya Halid, Dr Tinnie Change, Dr Rebecca Hughes, Dr Tristan Harding, Dr Ilya Kardailsky, and Nurses Lucy Stranger, Kiara Maieron, Lucy Thomas, Tanya Wallace and Babina Shah Thakuri.

In the season five premiere, our doctors see the worst ketamine reaction they’ve ever seen. Dr Emma West fears a motor-cross rider has life-changing injuries after coming off her bike. Time is critical as Dr Scott Taylor’s unresponsive patient deteriorates with a suspected brain bleed. Dr Tristan Harding must straighten a young farmer’s severely dislocated ankle before the blood supply cuts off. And Dr Mya Cubitt treats a cheerful 103-year-old legend’s leg for a nasty infection.
