Eleven - Programs and Schedules

but isn’t Sex and the City part of their deal with FOX (via HBO)?

Wikipedia states it’s distributed outside of the USA by CBS; Warner and the Warner owned HBO within the USA.

Maybe Fox withheld their programs until contracts and money owed was sorted. But maybe now they just renegotiated the terms and conditions or have an interim agreement.

I thought Sex and the City was distributed via Warner Bros, as Time Warner own HBO?

Remember it was first run here on Nine (who had full Warner Bros rights until recently).

I think Ten picked it up 2008/2009? First re-ran overnight and then moved to Eleven.

Maybe Ten bought it as a one-off with them at the time, after Nine obviously let it go?

HBO now has an exclusive contract with Foxtel.

For new product maybe but repeats are a different kettle of fish.

New Girl has been dumped mid season as of tonight.

I have just checked Foxtel’s EPG and it’s still there next Friday. Where did you see that it has been dumped?

For tonight’s episode.

Gone before it’s even begun.

The 20th Century Fox Cleanout has Begun with Foxtel about to take over.

All signs of New Girl has even gone from TenPlay. This is getting beyond ridiculous now.

Simple answer is Fox have stopped supplying programming to ten. They are owed money and clearly do not want to renegotiate now that their boss has lost the bid to owning ten.

Some people here believe it’s the end of the world. Understandably frustrating when it comes to shows people want to watch. But blame fox, not ten. They’ve taken their bat and ball and gone home like a spoiled brat.

Exactly. Fox has pulled the plug on Ten and they are doing their best to sabotage the network.

Maybe Murdoch doesn’t care because this investment was a drop in a bucket for them but surely Gordon wouldn’t want Ten to fail considering the fortunes of his WIN network are still so closely tied to it.

Was Speechless a Fox show ?as it disappeared off Tenplay too suddenly ages ago

What’s likely to happen to these shows, will they come back to Ten, another free to air network, Foxtel or streaming only ?

What’s the likely outcome or is it too early to tell?

Well, obviously if Ten renegotiate the contract, the Fox shows will come back. If they don’t, they will be up for grabs.

In theory, Fox can now negotiate a new contract with another network assuming others want to. Otherwise, they’ll end up on Foxtel eventually unless Foxtel want to negotiate a new contract with Fox.

That’s a shame, as the show was heavily promoted.

Complete rubbish.

Absolutely blame Ten for not being able to meet their end of the bargain. Fox is a business and if Ten isn’t holding up their obligations they have every right to pull content they own. They did the same thing in NZ, when Mediaworks went into receivership so I wouldn’t be certain it’s in retaliation to ownership.

At the court hearing to decide on the proposed transfer of Ten shares to CBS Ten’s lawyers raised concerns about the network not being able to finalise content deals with the administration hanging over its head. The AFR reported

Tiffany Wong, barrister representing Ten administrator KordaMentha, told the court on Wednesday it was necessary to have an urgent hearing to seek an approval from the court on CBS’ proposed takeover of Ten because the administration was “disruptive” to Ten’s business.

She said Ten was in the process of commissioning programs and it was facing difficulties finalising arrangements with content suppliers due to the fact the company is currently in administration. .

This partly explains the problem with 20C FOX. However, despite the problems, Ten has been able to make arrangements with other content providers most notably CBS but also others with a new Graham Norton season starting last night for example. They have also been able to commission a new series Bachelor in Paradise with Warner Bros International Television Production Australia. This suggests that FOX are being more difficult to deal with than others.
