Totally agree! Rain sensing wipers are useless. And yes auto-headlights are a good thing.
This 2020 Mazda CX-3 already has Apple CarPlay /Android auto fitted,DAB radio and reversing camera, more modern than my 2016 Mazda 2.And the Apple CarPlay doesn’t play up ,always connects when I plug it into the USB port in this car ,(not wireless CarPlay though, doesn’t matter) because it was already fitted as standard, not an aftermarket version like I have in the Mazda 2.
I had to try these things first out before I decided I wanted this car
I like having a push start button in a car too ,
I usually keep my car key on a lanyard, used to sometimes get my leg caught in it getting in or out of the car now I can have the key fob in my bag or between the front seats and it’s not in my way
When I last went car hunting, DAB+ was a deal breaker but it was clear that most sales people didn’t know much about it. One car yard spent so much time trying to find out because you can’t always assume the brochures are correct with radios being modified to fit Australia. Extended AM band is preferable as well.
While a nav system is good, it seems to be almost superfluous if you mainly use Google Maps.
I always spend time in the test drive trying out the radio especially FM selectivity and sensitivity.
It took a while to get used to the simple auto drive features to keep you within the lines and a safe distance from other cars etc but I would probably get them again plus intelligent cruise control to keep you at the same speed as the rest of the traffic.
I’ve got limited heads up display so would like a better version in the future. I don’t mind rains sensing wipers
I prefer Google maps app myself instead of the built in satellite navigation that is fitted to all recent model Mazdas
I still prefer inbuilt sat nav, mostly because it’s much easier to change radio stations, particularly on the Mazda I’ve got now. It was easier to do in my old Focus with Google Maps, since it had dedicated tuning buttons. I also turn the voice guidance off so it doesn’t interrupt the radio / music.
Re Cruise Control, I have active cruise as well, but I think I prefer regular cruise as it slows down too much when you get closer to a car in front, I would just change lanes or tap the brake if I needed to on the old cruise,
Re Head Up display, yes I have that, but sometimes it’s not bright enough on a light coloured road in daylight.
The Electric Vehicle Council has also singled out the Victorian government as having “the world’s worst” approach to taxing EV ownership in its report on the state of the industry to be released on Monday.
The council gave Victoria a rating of 3/10 for its EV policies.
NorthConnex is now the M11 Tunnel. Nothing official but signage has gone up.
I came across a council EV charger on Euneva Avenue at Glen Waverley today. It’s located roadside between the two public car parks.
It provides one hour free charging for EVs.
I’ve traded in my 2016 Mazda 2 for a Mazda CX-3, it’s only 2 years old and 38000 kms on it.I picked it up last Friday ,had to wait for it to be transported down from Mackay,it took a week to get here. The same dealer is having my old Mazda transferred back up there .I had to take photos of it and email them to the sales guy in Mackay.
It has DAB radio and more safety features that my Mazda 2 didn’t have, like lane departure warning, blind spot sensor and heads up display, this is the S Touring variant, not top of the range, that’s the Akara model,I’M happy with this one though .
I did look at another Mazda CX-3 down here before I found this one, that one was a Maxx sport , a lower variant, I preferred this one because it has the heads up display
Range Anxiety still exists to a point - while the number of chargers is increasing (in some states quite rapidly) there are still issues around availability and them being in an operational state.
I’ve been driving my Mazda CX-3 a week now,it doesn’t seem to be using too much fuel so far ,even in stop/start city traffic. I’ve already done 2 trips to the RSPCA in it (25 kms from home),some of that trip is in stop start traffic until I get on to the Ipswich motorway and can go 100 kms an hour
And yep, Nine News Melbourne had Reid Butler stationed on Plenty Rd Bundoora during their 4pm bulletin for coverage of this.
According to them, it’s Australia’s worst accident spot…. Accidents a “plenty” there indeed
VicRoads fed up after a shocker day and giving a bit of sass:

Are you referring to the 3 hour delay from Geelong to Melbourne due to a crane hitting an overpass which caused all Melbourne bound lanes to be closed?
