A friend of mine had the number plates stolen off their car parked on the street outside their house overnight.
They are getting anti theft screws for the new ones!

I wont be buying another car,My Mazda CX-3 has to last me for a long time .Its 4 years old and close to 60000 kms.I don’t have anywhere to charge an electric vehicle even if I did want to get one ,I don’t though.
These days my car averages between 10000 and 12000 kms per year.
I agree that checks are needed but I don’t think it is necessary for my Tesla to be rego checked again next year and the year after that it’s still relatively new car. After the 10 year mark it should go back to yearly inspections maybe it should work 5 years check, 8 years check 10 years check and yearly after that.
Rego checks aren’t about how safe a car is, it’s more about making sure tyres are good, indicators, brakes etc all work properly, not leaking oil to make sure it’s not likely to cause issues to other road users as well.
Sure and the same can happen to a vehicle under 5 years old
Do they not have boom gates to block the tunnel entrance? Or are those much further up?
I had to head down to the Gold Coast yesterday afternoon for work and stopped by the Tesla showroom at Burleigh, where they had a left-hand-drive Cybertruck on display. It’s impressive, but honestly far too big. I think for about 90% of people, a Model Y would be a much more practical option.
It would be utterly insane if that thing is considered road legal here.
There are barriers at the eastern entrance of West Gate Tunnel.
Some bright spark would try and make it road legal for Australian roads.
They let those Dodge Rams and other behemoths on the road, so why not let Elon’s Penis Replacement on the road.
Sitting in my Tesla model 3 in the western suburbs of Brisbane and I’m pulling in hot fm and Salt 1065 from the Sunshine Coast with no issues
I have always found Hot 91 by far the strongest station into Brisbane from the SC. Although I’ve never tried from the western suburbs!
It’s been closed this week for a section too. They’re upgrading the whole road, as part of the North East Link tunnel project (opens 2028).

Vic fires:
About 5km of the Calder Freeway in Ravenswood South has been burnt by the grass fire that ripped through late yesterday and sparked an emergency. 1 person was found dead, though not directly related apparently and reports of several buildings/structures being lost in Harcourt, as well as the broadcast transmission tower.
Currently closed between Ravenswood North and Malmsbury, Transport Victoria will probably have to assess damage before it can be re-opened. Including signs, fencing, barriers, any electrical and comms and most importantly the surface/bitumen and bridges.
This section was actually given a clean-up earlier last year, for the Liam Neeson movie filming a car chase there. It is also the newest section of the road, having opened in stages as part of extension projects 20 years ago, last in 2008-2009.
Reopened around midnight Saturday night/Sunday morning.
Road surface appears to be fine, mainly heat damage to some signage and barriers.
A manufacturing issue on the 2024 edition of the Volvo EX30 means the cell modules installed in the battery could overheat at higher charge levels, according to a statement from Vehicle Recalls Australia.
If the battery charge reaches 70 per cent or higher, the car could catch fire.
This is why I wouldn’t want an EV.. I want to go to the supermarket to buy sausages to cook on the barbeque.. not my own car in the carpark
