Driving & Traffic

That’s a ridiculous fee just to park the car. I could understand a 1 or 2 dollar fee but $8 is outrageous. I used to work in North Sydney so know the area well.

PayStay used to not charge a fee, but since EasyPark has started to enter their territory they’ve decided to become just as bad as them by the sounds of it.

Perth radio personality Kymba Harris was live on air when she broke down as she relived her experience assisting casualties in a traffic smash on the weekend.

With her voice shaking the broadcaster shared how she was one of the first on the scene of the fatal head on car crash in Perth on Saturday that killed two Indonesian nationals and left five injured.

‘Truly, it was horror,’ a tearful Kymba told listeners during Wednesday’s episode of Mix94.5 Pete & Kymba for Breakfast.

I can see Kia were trying to mimic the Jeep Wrangler and Suzuki Jimny with its design cues for the Tasman ute.

I dunno though…

I saw an oversized ute trying to get into a small driveway at an older house this afternoon, and I laughed!

This is tragic, we all need to check everything on our vehicles and just slow down and take it easy (coming up to the worst time of year for that though I guess)…

Final Destination 2 flashback anyone? How scary!

A Sydney council is being mocked after installing what must be the world's shortest 40km zone for drivers. Residents at Hurlstone Park are urged to slow down to keep pedestrians safe, but the new signage has left most people scratching their heads | @danielsutton10 pic.twitter.com/rh5zxYyTZ8

Launching this month, mycar “The Chargers” are calling all Australian EV owners with vehicle-to-load (V2L) capabilities to sign up and join the community-focused effort. Those EV drivers who sign up will be deployed to emergency areas (once deemed safe to enter), where they can give their car’s battery power to people in need, by simply plugging items into their vehicle.

The mycar Chargers recruitment campaign will roll out across earned, owned and paid media channels this month; with the official Chargers trial taking place across NSW, VIC, QLD and ACT this summer (Nov 2024 – Jan 2025).

China’s biggest electric car maker is expected to sharpen its focus on growth in Australia, doubling down on efforts to bring in new vehicles and expand its dealership network, as US President-elect Donald Trump pledges to prevent Chinese brands selling cars to Americans.

EVDirect, the Australian importer of China’s best-selling electric car brand, BYD, said the US restrictions could present a silver lining for Australians shopping for a new electric vehicle.

“Australia is a very important market for BYD – it’s a mature, Western market, which has always been viewed as a really great opportunity,” EVDirect chief executive David Smitherman said.

“The silver lining … is the ability for the global BYD to be more focused than ever on launching new products in Australia.”

Last month, it launched its first plug-in hybrid electric ute, the Shark 6, which will retail for $57,900 before on-road costs and is likely to snatch market share from Australia’s top-selling utes, the Toyota Hilux and Ford Ranger. More than 3000 Australian sales of the Shark 6 have been made in the past two weeks, the company said. In February, BYD plans to launch the Sealion 7 electric SUV.

I wish them success just on the basis of loving the naming scheme.

Yep. Sydney desperately needs a north-south motorway. Something along the A6 alignment would work but I suspect only a tunnel would do to avoid any issues.

Once the M6 goes all the way from the Airport down to the F6 south of Waterfall, and there is a direct connection from North Connex to the M2 eastbound (rather than having to go back onto Pennant Hills Rd and back off again a few hundred metres away), then there’ll be pretty much a continuous north/south motorway.

If it ever gets there - there are still two stages to go after the one that is under construction (and is now going to be another two years from completion)

Doesn’t help those wanting to go down the middle of Sydney instead of heading towards the CBD or detouring west via the M7.

I don’t think we’ll ever see a motorway like that… It would need to be pretty much all built from scratch underground as there is no existing motorway grade infrastructure it can leverage off (after the North Connex).

Going via the Harbour Tunnel is still a lot less of a detour distance wise than going via the M7.

I was in Sydney recently.

My Uber took the new Sydney Gateway / M8 from the international terminal to the CBD.

I was really surprised at the massive rozzelle interchange that the m4/m8 does not have a free following connection on to the (motorway like) Anzac bridge into the CBD and M1

You stop and hit traffic lights like a suburban intersection.

It was the same on the return journey from the CBD to the airport.

Considering the billions they spent - why on earth did they not provide free flowing traffic light free connections from the Anzac bridge to m4/m8? Just seems like they missed a really obvious connection

Why do you think people have been complaining about the whole thing for the past year?
