Wonder how it’s doing in terms of numbers. As far as I’m aware it’s mainly on streaming services, do they ever release indications on how it’s doing? Hope if there’s a second season they can maybe spend more then the current 2 cent budget.
Also noticed the show doesn’t have any social medias…? Strange.
I would think part of these production quality related issues would be likely to do with rushing it to production in NZ at the last minute as opposed to Australia.
World of Wonder are getting to critical mass with how they’re milking all the RPDR franchises globally to the extent that the audience is starting to lose interest, I suspect we might see one more season and that’s it. You would assume if they produce more that production would move back to Australia and perhaps the quality would increase?
The preview of the next episode makes it incredibly obvious that they’re trying to shape elements of the show to not be too localised so that it is more appropriate for the US audience. A bit disappointing, as the same has not occurred with DRUK or Canada.
The second episode was much better in regards to the production, didn’t seem as rushed or cheap looking, though the hexagons behind Ru/Michelle/Rhys in the runway don’t match up when they change the cameras and I found that very distracting. Such a shame that the Snatch Game was basically a complete disaster apart from a few funny lines.
I don’t agree. The production was just as bad. This series is u fortunately very much underdone. I’m surprised Ru allows it tbh.
Kylie and Dannii seemed like after thoughts. They didn’t even utilise one or their songs for the lip sync. Snatch Game in episode 2?!? Rhys seems like a one trick pony.
I’m still not feeling this version. I thought the cast was weak last week and the snatch game just proved that again. Everything all just seems a bit average.
I was surprised at who went as I thought she was a front runner. Although that person’s dummy spit after going made me really not like her at all. Good riddance.
Do you think so? It’s not even airing on any mainstream TV networks or streaming platforms in the USA. They are playing it on a steaming platform called WOW Presents Plus which very few people subscribe too.
I totally agree. The whole Aussie thing is just coming off as tacky. Sure make it relevant to the market but the references are just lame, they can still be creative.
Overall it is feeling very budget. $30k cash prize is pretty weak. Understand filming had to shift to NZ, but even the sets and the stage are just so lacklustre in comparison to even the UK or Canadian versions.
It’s also coming across as all very bitchy and to be honest I don’t think any of them are really strong, but a lot of them have this almost arrogance about them. The only one that I don’t mind is Karen.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Ru doesn’t come back for a second season (if there is one)… the snatch game was pretty crap and they knew it, but the queens thought it was “the strongest one ever” …
Can anyone explain to me the reason that Art Simone just got to come back? There was no explanation… just out of nowhere that she was back. There was no mention of any of the other eliminated contestants getting a chance or anything.
It just seems completely rigged and unfair to me that she got to waltz in for no apparent reason. If you are going to rig it for someone then maybe just don’t eliminate them in the first place.
I completely agree it was random. And they probably could have explained more - or done a double save as they did with Kandy for no reason.
It’s not too off brand though. Shangela and Vanjie were bought back to follow up seasons.
My (completely unsubstantiated) theory is that it’ll be related to addressing Scarlet’s pre-drag race behaviour. They do seem to be painting them as not likeable, despite their drag.
That’s the thing though they would have just done a non-elimination episode the other week if it was in the plan to do anything like this. It now just feels like they regretted eliminating Art and/or feel it has been a weak cast so decided to bring her back. Things like this with no explanation just continue to make this season feel tacky.
I personally would have had Etcetera Etcetera in the bottom against either of the other two. I was ok with Karen staying because I think most of the time she’s a lot better than this week and her lip sync was hilarious. Anita relies too much on her weird facial expressions in lip syncing to pull her though but it was a surprise that she left as I was starting to see her as a front runner.
No, I think he was there. Before filming began there were rumours of him being in hotel quarantine etc.
The work room interactions are similar to how they did it in the US season 13, due to social distancing. The runway introduction looks right. I think it was just episode one that made people suspicious.
