Do You Want To Live Forever?

As long as it isn’t another true crime show. We have enough those.

Might be onto something there.

So Tracey is hosting a Medical Factual Show (to be confirmed)? Well, none of us predicted that.

I think the bigger question should be why is 9 trying to make Nick Coatsworth happen?

He wanted fame on Seven but they already had too many nutters on their chequebook :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

He’s on the books now- so that’s why he’s hosting Today, his own show etc. Getting their money’s worth. But why they signed him to begin within? Who knows. Liked his politics I’d say.

They’d be crazy not to get Tracy on 60 Minutes. They’d have “Australia’s best interviewer” and she could work as often or as little as she likes.

TRACY GRIMSHAW

TO CO-HOST GROUNDBREAKING NEW SERIES

Renowned journalist Tracy Grimshaw collaborates with esteemed medical expert Dr Nick Coatsworth in 9Network’s thought-provoking new series which explores the quest for longer life, Do You Want to Live Forever?

Can we stay younger longer? Can we beat the diseases that take away our joy for life and ultimately kill us? Can we push the boundaries of human longevity much further than we have so far? Could we even live forever? And most importantly, if we could, do we want to?

Drawing on Grimshaw’s investigative background from A Current Affair and Dr Coatsworth’s medical expertise, they combine journalistic finesse with medical acumen. Together, they meticulously uncover the intricacies of ageing, seeking to determine whether we can in fact rewind our biological clock.

The program will follow four pairs of everyday Australians as they undergo medically supervised trials and health interventions that may provide clues to help us live longer. Through them, we will understand what the future holds, but most importantly, what we can do for ourselves, our kids and even their kids, to lead better, healthier, longer lives. Some scientists believe the first person to live to 150 has already been born.

Tracy Grimshaw said: “This project was Nick Coatsworth’s idea and I’m really looking forward to working with him on it. I’m keen to explore exactly what a long life will look like. While in honesty I really haven’t spent my life looking for the fountain of youth, I’m fascinated by how far people are taking that search, and how advanced medicine is becoming in that space. I’m a bit of a medical nerd so the research has been a pleasure.”

Dr Coatsworth said: “For centuries people have been captivated by the idea of living forever. I am extremely excited to be working with the highly respected Tracy Grimshaw on this new series. Together, we will follow eight everyday Australians as they positively shift the dial of their health and longevity.”

Do You Want to Live Forever? promises to challenge our perceptions of ageing and mortality. Join Tracy Grimshaw and Dr Nick Coatsworth on this extraordinary exploration when the series premieres later this year on Channel 9 and 9Now.

Do You Want to Live Forever? is produced by Lune Media, with executive producers David Galloway, Ashley Davies and Leonie Lowe.

Just bumping this thread up as merging with the old TBC thread hasn’t worked as well as it should :stuck_out_tongue:

I think we all had hopes Tracy Grimshaw would be headed to a decent, worthwhile project. Not sure that pairing her up with “Dr Nick” is what anyone had in mind? Maybe for her, this is her dream gig. But as an outsider, I wonder surely they could have found something better for her.

He gives me a Dr oz kind of vibe and look at how well Dr oz turned out. (Not)

Wonder if they’ll air a first ‘teaser’ promo tonight, during the Australian de Minaur > Hunter AO matches? They’d be crazy not to, as well as all other network 2024 promos/IDs, as it could be the last biggest numbers (until the Women’s and Men’s Final)

They will most likely do a teaser during the Australian Open, saying “award-winning host to present this show, coming soon to Nine”. To then air it four months time…

Possibly something to see out her existing contract and then a quiet exit?

According to TV Tonight, a second project for Tracy is expected to be revealed later.

I assume this is all just holding out a contract. I don’t know what the clauses are in contracts these days, but it does appear it’s not as easy as handing in notice and farewell. Contract has time left, network wants bang for buck.

We have seen countless talent over at 10 been made to appear on I’m A Celeb to fulfil contract arrangements.

Makes you wonder how much pressure ‘Ali’ Langdon was putting on executives, we know she was gunning for prime time

Why did Ali hold the power though? Surely execs wouldn’t be overly impressed she wanted out of mornings considering the merry-go-round that Today is. Might have been a deal from the start I guess, do Today for a bit then we will put you on ACA when Tracey retires. However clearly she wanted out early.

Surely if someone like Tracey was booted then she should be entitled to walk away from the contract. Must be a bit tied to fulfilling it in its entirety. Denyer had the same issue at 10, they chucked him on a reality show.

We do? You remember the show she was on prior to Today, right?

It was widely reported in the media and gossip articles she wanted prime time and namely Tracy’s gig/ACA.

I often wondered whether the Today, Carols, Parental Guidance and all was a regrettable stuff-up, all that and for what. Or if it was more a stepping stone/training ground (although she’d already had a couple of decades on 60 Minutes and Nine News for that) for something like ACA.
