Disney+

oh shudder, how dare they make a show with… checks notes… black people in it.
bloody wokeness!

The woke part he would be referring to is changing the family from being white in the original to black in the remake.

That’s what he’s referring to… not sure how that’s woke (though nobody ever seems to be able to explain what woke apparently is). Plenty of shows (and movies) get remade.

Yeah ok maybe not the best choice of word . I thought that the original show was going to be on Disney+ … as I think it is on Hulu in the US?

I think some issues with the songs or theme song and licensing or something? Joe Cocker .

I do remember maybe 10 years ago or so it started airing on the ABC randomly but got taken off.

Wasn’t really a remake either. It was like a reimagining. Telling another story from the same era featuring a different family.

Anyone else having issues with Disney+ via the Chromecast app not outputting Dolby Atmos?

Seems to work ok if you cast off your phone but not via their native app on Chromecast.

It was famously one of the shows that took forever to be released on DVD due to the heavy use of music in the show and licensing. I think when it was released it replaced a lot of the music, including the theme song. It’s appeared on some streaming services and DVD issues, but never in its complete original form AFAIK.

Although Seven have aired new AD and FG episodes, why aren’t they on here yet?

The contract probably stipulates that Disney have to wait a certain amount of time before they air any episodes screened by Seven. It could be a year later or at least until Seven have aired the whole season.

This is why Seven must stop withholding new episodes at once. Tear it up now!

I did notice though it appears Seven’s licence has been amended somewhat, with FG and AD eps no longer being uploaded to 7Plus for vod, but they used to be (including last season and older re-run eps when 7flix was airing them). Perhaps as part of that new agreement observed over the past 12-24 months, plus Disney+ ads on high rotation during much programming, including before the commencement of a program. From the Fox output from early 2018 (when 21st/Murdoch still owned them) to whatever the current deal is under Disney ownership.

I’ll be interested to see how ads work on a yearly subscription. Same with Paramount +.

I can’t see Apple adding advertisements.

Anyone watching The Artful Dodger?

So far so good. Love the different kind of Aussie drama for once.

I’m about to, been pondering it for a fortnight, but read Knoxy’s top review on TVT this morning and also left a comment on how I’ve been a fan of Thomas Brodie-Sangster for a long time too.

I also watched their The Clearing which was very good.

I’ve watched the first two episodes.

The first episode was a bit busy. They introduced so many characters but wasn’t sure which were main characters and which were supporting characters. I thought the second episode was much better and focused more on the story than the characters so I really enjoyed it.

The TV adaptation of Percy Jackson and the Olympians starts today, with the first season consisting of eight episodes.

I’m interested in this, apparently it’s pretty good, also liked the original novels and films, even Logan Lerman has praised the casting of young Walker Scobell.

Star+ was launched in Latin America in 2021, but programming will gradually shift to Disney+ in Q2 next year.
