That what it is in Brisbane - 91 is SD with 9 and 90 HD
Just looked at the DTT scan and it seems LCN 9 is in HD in Perth. Did they mess up at first, like in Adelaide?
Iām in Sydney, when do we expect these changes to come through? Any day now?
Someone else can confirm, but it appears they did LCN 9 in HD from the get go ie when @tv-expert announced it, I scanned it that same day and saw it to be so.
When I first mentioned about Nineās changes for Perth back on Wednesday, LCN 9 was still 9 SD, whilst LCN 91 switched to 9HD. By the next day, it has been swapped around.
Makes you wonder about quality control when that has now happened in two cities. But thanks for the confirmation.
Has SBS SD really disappeared in Tasmania ? Itās definitely not disappeared in Canberra.
SBS ONE in SD is on 30 here. 3 is HD.
Where?
Tasmania.
Tassie has been like that for a while now. Even ABC and SBS swapped the HD main channels to single-digit LCNs I recall. Is that correct?
Yes, that is correct. The change occurred in October 2023.
I did this one a couple weeks ago, nothing has changed from this yet! I only moved to Tassie recently so canāt comment on when certain changes happened but Iām sure some other people can haha
What a sensible move. Wish theyād do it nationwide.
I guess Tassie was the first test case for both ABC/SBS and the commercial networks.
Now that most commercial networks nationwide have moved the HD main channel to single-digits hopefully ABC and SBS arenāt far behind.
sooner the better
Are these the only ones remaining?
- ABC & SBS outside of Tasmania
- 9 Sydney & Melbourne
- 9 NNSW & Darwin (WIN)
- 10 Darwin (DTD)
Edit: remove 10 Metro from the list
10 Metro is a weird one, technically HD is on thr main channel number (10) but for some reason 15 is still HD and 1 is SD.
Why do we let the broadcasters do their own thing with this?
Make everyone do it at the same time.
Whoops! I slipped up I forgot theyād swapped
Back in the mid 2010s when the main channel HD simulcasts started returning, I believe one of the networks tried to spin that a change to government legislation was what let them bring the channels back
In reality, legislation had changed but it made zero impact on their ability to simulcast in HD. They just previously had to keep an SD version available as well.
