The SBS frequency looks wrong but the others are OK if you are using Melbourne and not the local Geelong UHF relays).

I am wondering if anyone lives in Ballina. According to Wikipedia, they recieve the standard Far North Coast/Lismore channels plus the Brisbane channels due to “a close border”. Is this true? You can give me a full listing of LCNs in the region if you want.
It’s common knowledge that Brisbane’s channels spill into the North-East tip of NSW. If Ballina is in the area then it’s extremely likely.
Are you doing research/studying for a media course?

I don’t doubt there are places in Far Northern NSW (like Tweed Heads and Kingscliff, etc.) where Brisbane/Gold Coast reception would be possible, but in Ballina wouldn’t you only get the Lismore/Far North Coast versions of TV channels?

Coverage of the Brisbane and Gold Coast channels doesn’t really extend any further south than about Kingscliff.

I know that in the old days before RTN8 in Lismore went to air, some people in Ballina had the high masts installed for Brisbane TV. Nowadays, you would only be able to watch Brisbane TV in that part of the world during an intense tropospheric ducting event.

It’s complete rubbish, inaccurate Wikipedia alterations. They’re the two most recent changes. You can view before and and after changes of 15 Sep (correct) to 15 Oct (incorrect):

The rot sets in from 2013 in that article. As late as the last 12 months, it’s returned to the article. There’s a Wiki contributor, Aaron who has been active changing the media section and is now permanently blocked by Wikipedia, is that you?
Ballina is at river level, sea level with hills to the north and west. FM Gold Coast reception is poor in the established town area at sea level.
Where you can receive the Tamborine signal (Gold Coast ‘high’ power site) is on the north facing high points of the plateau that forms a part of Skennars Head and Lennox Head. I’ve driven along many of those streets and there are a couple of UHF aerials for it.
Unlike the Tweed Shire which has a community of interest with the Gold Coast and Qld which adjoins it, there’s no community of interest there and therefore little interest. Signal would also be less reliable at Skennars’ and Lennox Head on the plateau due to the increased distance, hence why > 99% don’t bother.
Therefore, it’s not a readily available signal and should not be included in a Wiki article or spoken advice to anyone in the shire.
The Tamborine signal is reliable and used along the full length of the Tweed coast to Pottsville, the southern extent of development.

On the Alstonville plateau (yes, due to ancient volcanic events, there are plenty of plateaus in this region), it’s away from the sea air and has preserved many Band III installations pointing towards Brisbane. Most locals would be unaware they could plug in those antennas and likely receive digital radio, I’ve received it handheld on a high point nearby.
When conditions are right, FM signals from Newcastle to Brisbane and beyond drift through that area. One day had KO with RDS blank out Hot Tomato.

Regarding those VLC steps I had this problem on much content in VLC turned out to be graphic driver related. Updated those and no more steps identical to what you are seeing.

Aldi have a UHF antenna selling in their locked glass clase.
I dropped in to have a look.
It’s not great. Gain is 5.5 dBi. $49
There’s a mounting bracket included that gives you 400mm, not enough to be above the roof in poor conditions.
Would not buy even if offered for $20.
Keen to read thoughts if others have seen it or even bought one.

I got a new extension cable for my bedroom TV from the MyFun(?) store in Lanyon Marketplace. Length is 7.5 meters, and can get all TV transmitters from Canberra perfectly!
