FUN on a 486 are old school DOS games…and in Bill’s case, pirated games.
If they just used MIDI versions of the songs they’d probably save on royalties…
Now that’s a station right there! Random MIDI files would go down a treat!
And save on bandwidth too presumably
And the vocal tracks have got to be 8 or 16 bit chip tunes or similar.
How about Bill just sings the songs himself.
Cheaper again probably!
I don’t think so…
Ugh!.. this is oh so sad, entire digital stations going to waste.
It is sad, I have reached out multiple times to 2SM via phone, email even going to their studios and leaving my details with them to get a call back about maybe sitting down with them and working out a plan to get the digital channels back to a first class standard with a refresh in music and shows to no avail. They either can’t or won’t work to get the digital channels fixed up.
Did you mention you’d work for free? That’d be the best way to get your point across.
Well I did say I can work on a budget, heck I run http://starterfm.com at around $30 per month.
Love the enthusiasm, but I’d reckon $30 a month is too much for Billy Boy.
Nothing against you, just remember he has form for being cheap.
I think 2SM should just scale it all back - 2SM simulcast, NEW FM Simulcast, B-Rock Simulcast. Simple.
Swap out the ad breaks if they can work out the tech, and do just music during any portions where they are taking networked content they can’t air into Sydney.
Otherwise, surely a station like C91.3 or Move FM would like to have DAB coverage - and then be able to be on a level playing field with The Edge. Or, maybe some of the narrowcasters would have enough cash to be able to buy their way on. Find a way to monetise the space there - then turn those profits into promoting 2SM.
Sorry to hear that Chase, these big boys are impenetrable, they have a cast iron system in place in which they work their stations and network, and nobody like you or us can ever get our so called greasy hands on their nice clean toys. (sarcasm). It’s a shame, as I was really looking forward to hearing something different on the super digi network, hopefully they may have a change of heart, but in my experience from my past radio station attempts, these things are just a complete “no go” zone. I don’t understand it either, but it’s just reality, and nobody and anything can’t change nor touch these people.
An update on Radio Maria which popped up late last year on Nova’s DAB allocation in Sydney and Melbourne. Still yet to launch, but there’s now a website and a live stream: https://www.radiomaria.org.au/
Out of curiosity does anyone know how they got DAB+ allocation as well as how Rythmos got DAB+ spectrum in Melbourne?
They pay the commercials for the space. The same as what Kinderling do.
I was under the impression that Rythmos was an internal station to Pacific Star rather than a paid space though.
Rythmos started out based in Oakleigh when still an MF-NAS station but it appears they’ve been taken in-house by PSN
Craig likely has ambitions for multi lingual sport, begin with that mainstay Melbourne beachhead of foreign languages, Greek and go from there.
